Halo CE has the best campaign.
Halo 3's lone wolves was by far the best game type and most competitive.

Matchmaking Playlist =/= game type. Halo 2 for campaign Slayer for the best gametype in any Halo game. Could play that for hours.

Halo 2 and Halo 4 have the best Campaigns. As for Multiplayer, I had some fun with Invasion on Reach. My opinions. Probably unpopular ones, because Halo 4 is the devil to you people.

Lone Wolves. That was the biggest reason I played Halo 3's MP as much as I did, I think. Especially compared to other Halo games. If I didn't have friends online, I could always test my mettle against (usually) similarly skilled opponents and slug it out with no one to rely on but myself. And in the end, I was always progressing (or regressing) in rank. It was a nice challenge, something I could always sink my teeth into. After Halo 3, MP still had some fun, but it wasn't the same. Without friends online to goof off with on social playlists (or take a stab at Reach's interesting Arena concept), there was no drive to play alone. No way of telling how I was stacking up against fellow players in FFA playlists. A lacking reason to jump into team matches, because playing with randoms for teammates is a crapshoot. Playing simply to progress a level based on XP or Credits was hardly enough incentive to play alone, so Reach and 4 never held the same "pick up and play" appeal that Halo 3 did. I still would (and do), from time to time, play the newer titles alone, but with far less frequency and binging tendencies.

Halo 3 Campaign. Halo 3 BTB CTF I love Lone Wolves, though.

Lone Wolves was a playlist, not a gametype.
