Seems they showed off the pre-alpha build. Seems that the game is only in pre-alpha currently. If that's so than it could be months before we see a proper beta.

Halo reach came out in September and that beta was early May this is a bigger game so to me they will need to kick the beta off to find improvements has early has they can my guess beta will happen before june

Nope. Beta build is in the works. You may notice that they say "we cracked the lid off our pre-alpha build" of something like that. Basically, Bungie has the pre-alpha version of the game saved as its own file, and when they start on the alpha, they take that file and edit it and save it under a different name. then they do the same thing for beta, and then the same again for their launch version. At any time they can load up a previous version of the game and play it. They're showing off the pre-alpha version because it's stable and not buggy, and while the alpha version is probably the same way, the pre-alpha versino has less goodies for media outlets to accidentally come across and report before bungie is ready to release them.

Noooooooo! i hope your wrong. Ive been dying to play the beta since way back when i pre-ordered last year

Well last weeks update said the people visiting the studio where playing an Alpha build

Me too my friend.

Negative. I give it about a month.
-
Believe what you will, I've seen games take a year to go from Alpha to Beta.
-
I've seen them go 2 weeks.

It varies from studio to studio. But Bungie is the type of studio to spend a long time in pre-alpha to make sure everything is ready to go.

Not to mention console development always is different than the more traditional PC development.

Usually when you show off a build, that means it is stable and complete(or about to be completed). I would assume they're currently working on the Alpha build.
