I got in trouble for saying Creationism was a joke in Zoology, today
A guy gave this presentation thing about dinosaurs, and another one tried to "correct" him by saying dinosaurs couldn't be older than 6000 years because the earth is only that old. I said, quote "Creationism is a joke". He and some other guy got buttmad and I got lectured after class by an administrator for "saying offensive things that suppress other students' beliefs", and said next time I'd be written up for harassment and/or disrupting class. This administrator happens to be the wife of a deacon at the church my family goes to.
At least my teacher was cool about it.

Well you did 'offend' a student by yelling out. The teacher had grounds to write you up. I just wish we could debate these things and get this petty bullshit over with. The Earth is very obviously older than 6k and tons of evidence debunks that hypothesis. Ideally, you'd be given an opportunity to prove this student wrong.

Technically the teacher is right. You were insulting. Now, I am an atheist. Let's get that right out. You should have been more respectful in your disagreement. Yes, you are right, and YES they were wrong. But show respect for them. They likely still believe in Santa, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy and all sorts of imaginary things. You can't scoff at them any more than a child. In fact, treat them like children. Just say, I'm sorry, but the evidence backs up evolution. and leave it at that.
