Sorcery, Hexes, and Pyromancy, oh my!

A Mix

So I've been playing Dark Souls 2 for like a week now and I've already reset my stats about 3 times. I've gone from a Intelligence build to a Strength build and finally to a Intelligence build that has STR, DEX, and Faith as well. All that said, I found one thing in common: I have always used pyromancy, hexes, and sorcery. Now, that brings me to our discussion. I have used all three and have really jumped around based on the overall effectiveness in PvP as well as PvE. I always did well with sorcery in PvE, but I got my ass handed to me and the same goes for Hexes. Now, I've found pyromancy to be the most effective in both areas when used properly (for me at least). This worked out well for me, but pyromancy spells tend to run out rather quickly. So, I've come up with some a mix of sorcery and pyromancy that I have tested on both PvP and PvE. So far, I have fought 12 other players and defeated 10 of them using this combo. So my question to you is: why you find most useful? Sorcery, Hexes, or Pyromamcy? Or is it some mixture like I have?

  • I'm a classical man all about miracles. Emit force is without a doubt, my strongest, well rounded, most helpful miracle out there. It saved my up in the belltower when I came up against two people at the same time. Emit force can go through thin surfaces, and on the stairs sat a strength build and a sorcerer. In a straight up fight I could cast faster than the sorcerer, but in the end, the fact that I could free aim it to hit him under the stairs was a life saver. After EF is all used up, I play my cards defensively and hidden. I will use lightening spear when they don't expect it, and when they come in close and figure I'm out of options, I hit them with force. My weapons aren't powerful as a result of me pouring everything into the neccessary stats for the miracles, but when it comes down to it, I can adapt to the situation thrown at me because of some of the really neat miracles out there. I'm just kind of sad that they got rid of some of the more unique ones out there. Karmic Justice was awesome to do builds with and tranquil walk of peace was as well. But I mainly used TWoP as a troll move, because I then laid into them with my 108 casts of force.
