I don't know much about Rhino but I do with SolidWorks and Inventor. Does the program extract information from the image or is that all on your input?

  • I'm a SW guy too UT. I like to do things of a more organic nature in Rhino though as the build time is much faster & free-form. Nope, this is all me... for example the helmet; as far as I can find, there are only two images of this particular helm for reference but I did my best & altered it a bit so it could actually fit right. Same with the Thorn, very organic. I suppose I could've done the Hunter knife in SW as it's basically an extruded sketch, meh it was so quick to model out & I had Rhino open... lol

  • That's still impressive. Looking forward to your finished setup! I've done cosplay once (album attached) and used the Pepakura method. I mention that because it looks like Rhino could give a quicker solution than Inventor or SW. It would also depends on the file output too but I'm sure there would be a workaround there. I don't have access to a 3D printer and Pepakura is the available alternative.

  • Cool masks man! Yeah I've done the pep thing too in the past, but it was more because I was going for a certain look. Pepakura is still a very cool thing considering back in Middle School when I started making props/etc. NONE of the abundance of info we have today was avail... But I digress... Thanks! I'm sure you'd pick up Rhino well. The UI is a bit different than SW & you have to think differently because it's not: sketch, define, build part, mate assembly... it's more like: pull this shape, add some curves, make a surface, split this, boolean that, transform this, etc.
