I'm about to begin working on a speech for my public speaking class. This speech in particular is to be a persuasive speech. I'm having a little trouble coming up with some ideas for a topic to discuss. A few of the obvious choices that were already chosen by other students are gun rights, gay marriage, legalizing marijuana, and other controversial topics. I'm just looking for some ideas. It's my job to introduce a problem, idea, point of view, etc. to the listeners and attempt to displace them from their own opinions or feelings and potentially change their minds.
So give me anything that might be of major importance to you personally, interesting, or anything that comes to mind. Simple, controversial, anything! Thanks for the help in advance!

I gave a persuasive speech about how furries want to -blam!- people's pets. I kept a straight face the whole time and I even cited several sources. I had the entire class convinces that furries were a bane on society and should be outlawed.
