Taste and smell are actually heavily linked with each other. Losing one would put a big dent in the other. It's why you can sometimes taste what you smell.
But that aside I would have to say smell. I'm a big eater. I enjoy tasting all sorts of things and rarely stop snacking. It would be a shame to lose smell, as I'd never be able to smell my friends again.
Suppose I'll simply lick them instead.

Smell your friends? Okaaay.. I think that is pretty normal. :]

I know someone who got in a car crash and lost both.

I'm so sorry. That's really unfortunate and awful. My condolences go out to them.

I met them once so it not something impactful to me. You are so loving caring, even for people you don't know. I don't understand.

I was slapped in the dick with a severe case of empathy around 19/20 and it's only gotten bigger since then. When I hear of someone's loss or pain I want to fix it or let them know they aren't alone in suffering. //shrug

That was...quite the analogy. I've never been caring like others, let alone the way you are. I suppose it's something that people want though, caring and whatnot.
