With the mechanics that wold go into it, non-hand cannon users would be put at a disadvantage in terms of firepower, because the hand cannons have been described as mid-range shotguns. And since they are the only sidearm archetype, the feature would be underdeveloped.

That is exactly what I was thinking. We need to be able to- I don't know- USE DOUBLE HAND CANNONS!
