Okay, so I have a mid-class Laptop that I game on, decent AMD chip and all that, it's only drawback is that is has 4GB of RAM. It's this chip: http://www.crucial.com/store/partspecs.aspx?imodule=CT51264BF1339
Now, I really just need 2 GB more, and I've been watching my budget since I'm a college student and all that. Would installing an identical chip that has 2GB in the other slot hurt my performance at all? I heard somewhere that if both chips are identical you get the best performance.
Really the only reason I want this is so that I can easily game without having to close my browser and other programs, and I am into digital art so I routinely have 5+ applications running.
Cheers,
Progo.

Get a second 4GB module so you can run dual channel. Your performance will improve with 6GB, but running 8GB in dual channel is much more efficient.
