Some pressure-related facts: If you ever find yourself in a vacuum, you should exhale immediately to stop the unbalanced air pressure from rupturing your lungs. If you do this, you'll have about 10 seconds of consciousness in which to save yourself, after which you pass out. Death will follow in a few minutes unless somebody rescues you. People have been exposed to vacuum for over a minute and survived with no lasting injuries. Divers don't get it so easy. In 1983, five people were killed by rapid decompression of a diving bell. The diver closest to the breach had his spine, limbs and internal organs blown out, all of which were subsequently ejected from the bell by the pressure, reaching over thirty feet in height.
