Albert Einstein, arguably the most intelligent human of the twentieth century, was a socialist.
So how many of you were told that in school?

Yeah, I knew that. And an academic being a socialist isn't all that surprising. If you look at some of the non-market based economic theories that roughly fall under socialism, they're essentially big math problems. Production, labour, consumption, etc, are all variables that can be controlled in these cases, as opposed to capitalist systems, where all of this is essentially random. Obviously, that's going to make sense to someone with a math background.

Edited by Spvrinna: 11/28/2013 2:20:42 AMCan we please keep these religious threads to a minimum? I myself, accept Shrek as the One and Only Savior of our species, he who gives me strength to carry on everyday.
-
Actually I was. In 12th grade history, when we learned about McCarthyism.
-
And now he's dead. Hawke: 1 Einstein: 0
-
And, that doesnt change his genius any.
-
He's entitled to his opinion. Even more so, all things considered.
-
I support socialism, so I'm not bothered about this.
-
Now the inb4 is out of the way... It says a lot when the smartest chap on the planet says Socialism isn't a bad idea. Just look at Scandinavia, Socialist countries and yet... arguably the best places to live on the planet.
-
He was an intelligent theoretical physicist, what would he know about politics? Even his greatest work turned out to be wrong. Socialism isn't bad because "Murica!" like many of the Socialists on here would say (hint hint). Socialism is bad because it's just plain bad.
-
Isn't Mexico socialist? They're poor right now.

/Thread.

You think Einstein knew the first thing about politics? He was a theoretical physicist, that didn't make him super.
-
Jew mad??
cuz I did -godwinslaw!- it coming
HAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
-
Hitler and Stalin were also socialists.
-
Edited by NaLo: 11/30/2013 11:40:45 PMEinstein's political ideology is irrelevant. Discussing his political views is about as relevant as discussing what Oppenheimer's favourite sport was.
-
who the hell cares if he was socialist or not?
-
I heard he was pro-killing defenseless, unborn babies.
-
Was he Pro-Abortion as well.
-
shut up you socialist jew
-
I thought that was common knowledge...
-
-
So? He was born in Germany in the mid 20th century and left because he was a Jew. It's not like that's unexpected. Plus he's a physicist. I don't expect physicists to be on par with someone like Adam smith in regards to economics.
-
He was a physicist not an economist.

Don't be ridiculous! The man forced into the Nazí army despite his sickly state, who hated the National Anti-Socialist Party enough to design a bomb that he knew could destroy the entire planet if used on a massive scale, yet he still took the chance just to stop the Nazís, that man, was a socialist?
It's too bad he never got to exact his revenge, Berlin fell before he was done.
No, no... A socialist could never design a bomb fuelled by freedom!
