Hey you. Yeah you. Want to join us for a community meet-up in Portland, Oregon?

So yeah... it's a thing some of us do every year. We get together, we play some games, we battle for loot and swag, we eat some food and drink some age appropriate beverages. It's not a convention, but it's more organized than a bbq. This year, October 19-20th, we're going to be invading Portland with our geeky gathering. You're invited. We'll be meeting at Portland's legendary Guardian Games, a gaming mecca with a bar in it! There we'll be in for a three hour table top madness gaming tournament, with prizes ranging from rare Halo swag to the purchasing power to score yourself some up to date loot. We'll head out from there on an campaign for food, making sure to assuage our need for dessert at the equally famous Voodoo Doughnut, and there's rumors of a bar crawl after curfew hits for our younger participants. Sunday, we'll creak out of the corners at a respectable afternoon hour, and head over to Mississippi Pizza for live music, pizza, drinks, and Cards Against Humanity, to be followed by yet more cross town shenanigans. We have designated drivers available, and possibly some crash space for non-serial killer out of towners. Want to know more? Send me a PM and I'll hook you up with times & further details.

 • For those of you who are wishing something like this would happen closer to you, feel equally free to PM me for advice on starting your own community event. I've been organizing events for years now, and will happily warn you of common pitfalls, and gird you with good advice for kicking off your own homegrown happening. We have people come from B.C., Washington, California, and even from the land down under to this annual gathering, and it always amazes me how much fun everybody has for something that's really pretty simple in the large scale of things. PAX is grand, don't get me wrong, but there's nothing better than kicking back with a smaller group of friends with games, good food, and some spark for competitive fun. Don't take my word for it though... you should try it out for yourself!
