Why is he facing life in prison? Doesn't he get a choice?

Well, according to the article, he did trick her but life in prison for that seems a little extreme. I suspect this couple was already having issues of some kind and should have engaged in safe sex, if at all. They should have also discussed the consequences of sex before engaging in the activity so they already had a plan on what to do if something such as pregnancy happened. Idiots will be idiots.

Life in prison is too far. I'd give him a decade.

Edited by Quantum: 9/11/2013 8:22:15 AMDo you think women should be prosecuted for miscarriages?

Edited by MyNameIsCharlie: 9/11/2013 6:43:04 AMShe didn't want the abortion. Spin it any way you want, she didn't choose that. So comparing this to supporting abortion is stupid. You know what else? I support your right to commit suicide. But if someone tricks you into eating poison? I'd still want them prosecuted for murder.

Edited by DocSmurf: 9/11/2013 9:39:34 AMMorality is not a mechanic of the universe. Morality is not absolute for to assert absolute morality you must assert absolute authority Appealing to that authority is a logical fallacy. If morals are not argued then there is no way to determine morality since it is neither an absolute nor native to the universe itself. Therefore the only way to assert a moral is to reason it. My argument is that you can not proactively assign rights to a human that can neither use them nor understand them. especially when that "human embryo" cannot even self sustain. you have asserted that the moment a zygote is formed the rights are there but have given no supporting argument for why this should be true. I am editing my op to this post and walking away. I will not be responding to further argument from you unless it is non circular.

Her body, her choice, he should have prepared for this when he stuck it in,
Doesn't he get a choice?
No. Only the pregnant person has the right to decide whether or not to terminate their pregnancy.
-
huh...i thought this thread would be about pics of aborted fetuses in an attempt at a ethical or moral discussion.

Because he isn't a doctor certified to perform that procedure and tricked his girlfriend. It's the women's choice at the end of the day, her uterus her rules. Though I do believe couples should communicate on what they want to do in situations regarding abortion. Just my two cents.
-
Because it's not his choice alone. He forced it upon her without her knowing.
