Is the Warlock design based off of Vash?

So [not my own choosing] I was exposed to Trigun a few days ago. I'm not a huge fan of anime, since I find a lot of it childish. However, I noticed that Vash (the main character of Trigun) might be a inspiration for the Warlock in Destiny. Vash fits the following description: Swirling trenchcoat. Hand-Cannon. Borderline supernatural speed/senses. Mild sci-fi 'wild west' environment. Protector of the weak. What is a Warlock? A person with a helmet and a trenchcoat. Hand-Cannon. Magic. Destiny is the wild west (watch the GDC interview). Basically a do-gooder. Compare the intensity/design scheme (obviously the Warlock is meant for space, Vash is meant for a desert) http://thenullset.files.wordpress.com/2008/03/vash.jpg http://24.media.tumblr.com/9cc2dc21f84782280c518a211c10f872/tumblr_mrr71hKMWf1qdqlkxo1_400.gif Note that Trigun was made in 1998, and Bungie made an anime game a couple of years later (Oni) so it's not to far-fetched to think they would pull inspiration from Trigun for Destiny (as they already have with the Matrix) So do you think the Warlock concept might have been inspired (in part) by Vash?

 • It's just as likely that Halo 4's Mantis was inspired specifically by Metal Arm's Titan or the Goliath from Starcraft. It's just a general theme. There are bipedal mechs. People like to put guns on mech's arms because it looks neat. Everyone likes firing rockets at stuff. These are just common things with mechs. Sure they could have influenced each other, but I doubt in any of these cases one designer looked at one of the other mechs and said "THAT ONE!". Now if Bungie gave us the option to give our Warlock an identical hair style as well as glasses, then I might get a little suspicious. However none of the attributes you listed are terribly specific, so I'd say it's probably just the case I described above.
