Wait wait? So it you were delivered concrete proof the Christian God existed you would still not be a Christian?
-
Of course not. The core tenets of Christianity are morally reprehensible.
-
Actually I would argue that they were morally just and good. What do you base your opinions on?
-
I'll give you an easy question then. Is it ever acceptable for someone to be used as a scapegoat for someone else's actions?
-
Hmm, I would say no however, the actions of said sentient being doesn't mean that it is replicated in the Christian way of life. It's not a part of the core belief
-
It's not a part of the core belief
Not a part of the core belief? It is the core belief. You accept Jesus as your so-called saviour for "taking the blame" so-to-speak for all of the world's supposed wickedness (sins), including your own. It's the very epitome of scapegoating.
-
I get that but Jesus is God come in the flesh. He is basically an example on how you should live your life. It's like using yourself as a scape-goat. Also that doesn't really concern Christians and doesn't affect that specific way of life
-
It's like using yourself as a scape-goat.
That's not acceptable either. Being willing to absolve someone else of their failings isn't acceptable - it's cheating and not allowing someone to take responsibility for their own actions. Would it be acceptable for someone else to go to prison for the crimes of another? For someone else to take the blame? I really can't see a moral way of justifying that position.
Also that doesn't really concern Christians and doesn't affect that specific way of life.
I don't see how it couldn't be appreciated in an abstract way to be applied in a given situation in the future, such as the example I gave above regarding prison. Nevertheless, the fact that Christians treat Jesus as a scapegoat is more than enough for it to be valid and used as an example of something unacceptable.
-
You have a very interesting perspective on things I will give you that But you realize to accept Jesus is to be like someone released from prison due to good behavior and then going on to be a productive member of society. Also you realize that "scapegoat" ends up in heaven? So that person doesn't even go to prison.
-
But you realize to accept Jesus is to be like someone released from prison due to good behavior and then going on to be a productive member of society.
Yes, but to my knowledge, by accepting Jesus you also pass your sins onto him as your scapegoat. My understanding is that Christians do this so they aren't relegated to a life in Hell because they won't be judged by God for their own sins any more. That's my point right there too - using someone else to avoid taking responsibility.
Also you realize that "scapegoat" ends up in heaven? So that person doesn't even go to prison.
The prison question was just an example I hoped I could give that would help show something that we're likely to agree on.
-
Oh no I agree, but in was trying to tell you that accepting Jesus doesn't mean you are free to sin.
-
I'm aware of that.
-
So you still have responsibilities you must adhere too.
-
Acceptable by who?
-
A member of your society.

Edited by THUNDERCHILD: 11/8/2014 10:12:13 PM+1 if I were to take up religion it would be for recreational purposes. I'd probably go with something pagan though. I get the impression they have more entertaining get togethers.

Well, that's retarded.
Trolling ninja is trolling
Edited by Mustang357: 8/12/2013 3:45:01 PMSo basically truth and fact means nothing to you, and in a desperate attempt to be a contrarian, you'll accept an eternity of hell. Not only does that logic sound beyond moronic, it makes you come off as an idiot who probably doesn't even accept most scientific truths. By all means, keep making dumb claims that you clearly don't think through.
-
So basically you're mad
-
>Joined today >Being a dick to daz lol
-
If you are a Christian, I don't think you have any right to condemn anyone, especially a person who is far more intelligent than you will ever be, for making supposedly "dumb" claims and sounding "moronic". Christians are the least intelligent and the most dishonest people on the planet (on par with Muslims).
-
Trying way too hard. When you say dumb things that basically confirm your stupidity, that makes me not take you seriously whatsoever. I would say nice try, but it was pretty pathetic.
-
Nice lie there.
-
But you are an example of his point.
-
Not even Christian. Nice try though. Oh wait, no it wasn't. It was pretty generic.
