I'll try to keep this short.
My original intent was to major in Computer Science. After my math placement exam, I realized that I would not be able to graduate in four years with my degree, so I had to change my course load to fit that of an Information Science and Technology major. While this was disappointing, I've come to terms with it. With this path in mind I'd like to work for a company making software and maintaining it. My brothers friend graduated with this degree and now he travels the country working for HP fixing their stuff for companies, which sounds like an awesome job (also has a company credit card to buy nifty stuff like food and plane tickets.).
But over the course of the summer, I realized that I'm not sure if I want to spend the rest of my professional life indoors hunched over a computer preforming server maintenance or writing lines of code (I'm also not much of a math guy so a bunch of calc classes might not be much of a good time). After looking into backup options, I noticed that I had a serious interest in special education, and my school has a 4+1 plan where I can get a Masters in special ed. at pretty much the cost of undergraduate tuition, and I'm at one of the best schools for special education. Ideally with this path in mind I'd do some sort of administrative position and continue onto a doctorate, while still making a difference in the life of someone in need.
I'm really not sure where to go with this. I guess after this semester I'll find out through my classes if I like this path or not, but maybe talking about this with other people would be good.
