I fail to see how blood and gore = creativity or how making a creative decision to not have blood and gore in a game = curbing creativity.
The grisly stuff is secondary. Setting and gameplay are what's important. If they want to shy away from splattering gallons of red across the screen for WHATEVER reason, even if that reason is just to widen the audience and make more money, I say let them.
