Random Facts Thread

Got any random facts to share? Post 'em here! Pearls dissolve in vinegar. According to Hostess, it takes about 45 seconds to explode a Twinkie in a standard powered microwave. If you squeeze your nose together where no air goes in or out, you can’t hum. Lethologica is the state of not being able to remember a word you want to say. It is possible to lead a cow upstairs but not downstairs.

  • Googul, or 10^100, is more than the total amount of atoms in the universe. Pi has every possible number combination. That means every even that will ever happen is represented in Pi. Nintendo gave support for the NES for over 20 years. Egyptians invented marshmallows. Egyptians did not use slave labor when building the pyramids. Farmers were free for some time in between harvests. So they worked on the pyramids and received benefits for their labor. Romans built the first factory thousands of years before the industrial revolution. Easter island was once covered in trees. The local residents rectified that so they could become cannibals. A telegram was sent, and intercepted, that read "it would be a fine day to attack Pearl Harbor." It was dismissed as nothing. The sender? A Japanese man working on the island. The year? 1942. Japan had a nuclear weapons program during WWII, which produced a working nuclear device. However, American firebombing destroyed the main facilities, stalling the project. (Actually, the US may have nuked the city the uranium enrichment site was in.)
