  • Yeah, since I'm a guy I've never been called bad things. Cat-called? No. But I've been called ugly and every variant of the term numerous times, by boys and girls.

  • Those people are dicks and don't deserve your attention. But here's the thing: people can and do act in a quite similar manner to how they do online. I mainly see instances of this while I work as an Enforcer during PAX.

  • A PAX Enforcer? That probably isn't as cool as it sounds. ...Is it?

  • It's better than it sounds.

  • What does it entail?

  • Essentially, keeping the convention afloat. You can help booths on the expo floor, help with security, lines, the lounges, or put yourself on the "spareboard" and go wherever you're needed. I guess it sounds boring to some, but there's never a dull moment.

Not a problem. I don't give them my attention. That's why they do it anyway, for attention, and as one gets older it gets easier to tell when someone is being an ass for attention, and when someone is honestly an ass. They way I see it, people keep their honesty online and act like a douche in real life simply because they lack humility and the clarity to know what they're doing. Essentially, they're misguided, and are only hurting themselves. Giving those people attention only rewards their bad behavior. But, I don't think I have ever seen a person honestly critique a another's looks unless asked. If to critique is meant to simply inform of a weakness, then that is not what I see when a person rudely rates another's appearance.
