But there was much less spartans than jedi and... I can't really support either side as better because the circumstances are different.
Though a solid metal bullet is not a pleasant thing for lightsabers. Even if it is blocked there is still a cloud of lead vapor in the air. Lead poisoning. Not the ideal death. Perhaps we should argue over better equipment?

The Lightsaber would probably turn the bullet into molten slag, if not disintegrating entirely due to the immense heat. I wouldn't even say equipment is the only factor that matters here, such as the abilities and reaction time of each respective party. Of course though, the amount of bullets the Spartan (what kind are we talking?) can send flying would indeed be an important factor.

Battle rifle and, oh say a 60 bullet Assault Rifle. And if the lightsaber only turns the bullet into slag, well, that's still rather unpleasant because it would still be moving towards them.
