Should Margaret Thatcher get a ceremonial funeral?
The funeral of Baroness Thatcher will take place on Wednesday, 17 April, Downing Street has announced. The 87-year-old former prime minister died on Monday, after suffering a series of strokes. The funeral ceremony, with full military honours, will take place at London's St Paul's Cathedral, following a procession from Westminster. A ceremonial funeral is one rung down from a state funeral - normally reserved for monarchs - and requires the consent of the Queen. A Downing Street spokesman said the details had been agreed at a "co-ordination meeting" between the Thatcher family and Buckingham Palace on Tuesday morning.
Many tax payers are pretty happy she is now dead going as far as having street parity's but now we are paying for her funeral. Should the people decide if she should get one?

If she's so right wing and supportive of individuality, then her family should be paying for the funeral, not the taxpayers. Rot in hell you hypocritical, despicable sack of fecal matter.

  • Let's be honest here, taxpayer's money has been spent on a lot worse. Besides, Thatcher did do some good for the country.

Should she get a funeral? Of course, everybody deserves a funeral. Should tax payers pay for her funeral? No.

      • Well, she did hold a very high office in government. Even if she is unpopular to some I'm sure there are just as many that view her in a positive light. I don't know much about her or the reasons behind the like and dislike but what I do know is that she spent a lot of time working to do the best she could for her country. While you can argue how "fancy" (for lack of a better word) the funeral should be it seems only fair that after all she gave and did for the country she should receive a state funeral.

        • Yes she should get a ceremonial funeral. She saved our country from the filthy Russians and their Argentinian dogs. Not to mention she humiliated those fat ogres in Scotland who were holding our country to ransom over the mining industry.

          • Yes, an open casket one, right through every old mining town, and through Glasgow and Edinburgh.

          • If she has one it should be payed for by her family, not the country.
