In order to get ready to move, I had to burn some old checks and tax papers that I didn't want to throw away. Also, I got an excuse to have a quick backyard bonfire.
So what's the best way to get rid of sensitive documents? Shredding? Burning? A steel container that you can drop to the bottom of the ocean?

Sensitive documents? Just be really mean to them and they'll likely destroy themselves.

Make some thermite

Shred the offending document, douse in kerosene, and light aflame.

Box, 5 pounds of Tannerite, and a good rifle. Actually, they will scatter pieces everywhere. Actually, -blam!- it. I stick with my previous answer. It'd be a helluva confetti storm.

Shred then burn. Hell, just shredding is usually enough. Shredded paper is an excellent fire starter by the way.

Shred, burn the scraps, put the ashes in the bottom of the ocean.

Shove them into a koalas' anus.
