Destiny NEEDS an "M" rating

I know that often times, developers and gamers alike don't really care what the rating on a game is, but from what I've heard (all speculation of course), is that Bungie is aiming for a "T" rating for Destiny. If this is the case, which I hope it isn't, it will be a huge mistake. The story for what Destiny is claiming to be, cannot be done justice if Bungie doesn't allow for the grit, violence, language, etc that would come with that setting, it can't be believable. If the world is almost completely wiped out, and the human race is having to fight several other species in a last ditch effort to survive, you better bet that there will be "F bombs" dropped, there will be people being shot (meaning decent amounts of blood), etc. Bungie, please, don't let yourselves be held back by a rating in order to get more sales. Make this game an "M" rated game. Anything less would be simply uncompelling and unbelievable, and would really detract from the story and mood that would be present should this situation in this game ever really happen.

      • yes for science yes! it needs a "M"!! and all this talk of "Teen is more accessible to a wider audience" is such horse shit. when have those prevented any kid from playing a game. i mean just listen to all those little kids in chat playing COD black ops Reach halo 4, cant stand them. i feel like im chef on an episode of south park! come on children! oh and yeah i remember back in the day trying to rent GTA ONE and the blockbuster guy being like sir i don't think this game is rated for you child. but i still got to play it at my friends house. if anything they will lose money by making it TEEN. gahhh i just imagined if HBO made Game of Thrones "Teen" *tableflip* im out!

      • I don't think the rating matters in the slightest. If a game gets a lower rating, then it would me more accessible to a wider audience. If a game has a higher rating, minors will still be able to get the game through their parents or friends. I think that ratings are being misjudged these days anyway. I would like to think the bar for an M rated game would be GTA IV or Saints Row. Games like Halo, even though some scenes may have stabbing and death, seems like it would be more of a teen game. Just look at this scene from halo wars (rated T). Halo wars cutscene I am just confused on how scenes like that can pass as teen while halo: CE is labeled as M when there isn't a scene nearly as violent as that. TL;DR Don't trust ratings to determine the quality of a story.

      • Creativity has nothing to do with ratings, and if you feel that there are limitations to it because of those ratings, then you don't understand the base law of creativity. There are no limits. Per audacia ad astra.

      • Since when does dropping F bombs make a game 'Mature'? And you know what? There can be a good amount of blood and this game can still be rated T.

        • I approve of a T rating... The screamers tend to shun anything that isn't M rated and/or CoD. My ears would thank Bungie. also:
Adult content =/= good game
• Haha I love how you tell them to not hold back for sales. Bungie is a business and a business is supposed to make money. Second, I thinks its foolish for you to think that in order to have a great game you need intense graphic violence and foul language. Halo should have been T for gore and language and was confused it was a M rated title. I hope Destiny is T so there can be just that many more players in the world we are about to get into.

            • It doesn't have to have the f word in it but I feel like if it was rated t then it would just feel less mature then it would if it was m. There doesn't have to be a lot of blood but like if I get shot in the head then it should disappear!

            • Kids are still going to get their hands on this anyway, but the roughness that would be avoided with a T should be in the game

            • Ok first of all who gives a crap what rating destiny is. I don't want it if its gonna be dropping the f bomb. I hate games like that because I have to turn my volume down. The gore I want it to have but not a lot like blow someone's head off and brains go everywhere that's just to much.

            • It's not like there needs to be lots of swearing or the story will suck, it's just that there should be no limit or restrictions on their creativity what so ever. You can just tell when content is edited for the kiddies. Especially when it comes to story telling.

            • I can understand blood because it's an fps, but I don't really understand your logic behind why it needs to have swearing. Halo didn't even have swearing and the series was still rated M.

              • Some of the greatest games of all time (IMO, things like Jak 2 and Jak 3, Ratchet and Clank, etc.) were rated T. It doesn't need to be overly gory or foul, but they shouldn't hesitate to throw a couple of those aforementioned things in their.

                • I massively disagree. Do we truly now live in an era where violence and cursing to make a game wonderful. Not to mention this isn't a modern day world. Whose to say that they would use the language of now, or maybe it wouldn't even be part of their culture. Your hope shows close mindedness on your part.

                • I approve of a Rated T game there is no reason why a game can't still be great without what we see today as mature aspects of a game (gore, violence, sex, language). Pure example of this is Mario (one of the best games ever made) and It's even lower that game is rated E.
