Destiny NEEDS an "M" rating
I know that often times, developers and gamers alike don't really care what the rating on a game is, but from what I've heard (all speculation of course), is that Bungie is aiming for a "T" rating for Destiny.
If this is the case, which I hope it isn't, it will be a huge mistake. The story for what Destiny is claiming to be, cannot be done justice if Bungie doesn't allow for the grit, violence, language, etc that would come with that setting, it can't be believable.
If the world is almost completely wiped out, and the human race is having to fight several other species in a last ditch effort to survive, you better bet that there will be "F bombs" dropped, there will be people being shot (meaning decent amounts of blood), etc.
Bungie, please, don't let yourselves be held back by a rating in order to get more sales. Make this game an "M" rated game. Anything less would be simply uncompelling and unbelievable, and would really detract from the story and mood that would be present should this situation in this game ever really happen.

It would certainly limit what Bungie can and cannot put in... I believe an M rating would suit just fine, frees up any limitations placed on by a lower rating.

At first I thought I wouldn't mind a T rating but now after reading what people have put down about this topic, I feel M rating would be much much much better so I agree, I hope they don't do that. [spoiler]DONT DO IT BUNGIE!![/spoiler]

9 RepliesI have to disagree. Language is overrated in my oppinion. The world can do without. Allowing this game to be T will allow many more players! The more the merrier right?! Blood on the other hand doesn't matter in my oppinion, i mean its just blood. But language will not allow many people to enjoy the game.

I agree! It should be M rated. Those who can't get m rated games will get them anyways. I've seen parents let their 12 year old get GTA

You can make a strong bet that it will be M purely on the fact on how strict the ERSB has gotten lately. Heck they could give it a M rating purely cause you have guns and are killing things because it has been awhile since I have seen a FPS come with a T rating. I personally don't care if their is language as that doesn't make the game for me. The occasional is fine and yeah would be expected if that happened in real life, but the overuse of cursing especially of the "Fbomb" is due to a lack of creativity in writing which is not serving this company has. I mean heck the Elder Scrolls Online just got rated M and they were "shooting for a T rating"

7 RepliesI do to. If they make it T then they have to cut out the some if not all of the M thing's out of the game to make the game T. The game won't be the same if its a T game (IMO). Any way its not like the kids can't get the game, they will get it from there parents so I hope they put the grit, violence, language, etc. so I can have more fun playing it.

I hope there is a setting where you can turn off most swear words like in COD:BLOPS. That way my little brothers can watch me play without me having to mute it.

I beg to differ. I think a T rating would be fine. In my eyes Halo was barely a rated M game and the M rating was really just because it was an FPS. Honestly a good movie adaption of Halo would be PG-13. Look at the Batman Arkham series. It's rated T but has plenty of grit, violence, and dark themes. I don't know what your so worked up about. Are you just afraid you won't hear the F word or something? Calm down. Most ads for the game say "THIS GAME IS ANTICIPATED TO BE RATED M" so I would calm down about it if I were you.

Look at halo reach it is rated M for Blood and Violence. Not intense violence not strong language and not blood and gore. ESRB has gotten 100% more strict. Wether it's T or M i really don't give a rat's ass though.

1 ReplyT makes sense for the number of people they're trying to have play the game. if you're trying to keep kids out, it won't work. the kids whose parents don't care will already have the game and they're the ones we already have to deal with. the ones whose parents wouldn't are probably a lot nicer and i would sooner welcome them than the other. honestly, it will probably be the shooter aspect that gets it rated M; all the sci-fi violence can really screw a game over. personally i don't need swearing to make a game enjoyable. but the violence will be present in any shooter.
