Coming from an iPhone owner...

I think the S4 is actually better or on par with the 5.. The screen finally looks good ( last one had horrible colors ) and it's thin and 1080p. What I'm worried about it the bloatware it will come with and the fact that I hate Android OS to the bone. And how I have a lot of money already put down on iOS apps. Thoughts?

  • I've had both an Android Phone and an Apple iPhone - at the moment I'm on the 4S. And aside from the god awful WiFi problem I've had for the past month (As in, you can't even turn the WiFi on and off), I've generally preferred the iOS to Android's. The stores are much easier to navigate, and it's generally clean and concise. That said, the S4 has a lot of great features, and widgets are really helpful. I'm hoping Apple does make some nice changes when they release the new phone - not just make it lighter and thinner.

  • my upgrade for my iphone 4 is available tomorrow and im getting the iphone 5. I see what everyone is saying with android and all the customization but for me it really boils down to ease of use and looks. I jailbroke my phone last month, and installed some quick tweaks to fix annoyances but thats it. I dont like changing the backrounds and icons and crap. I use my phone to text my buddies and thats about it. everything else is just gimicky little tricks that i never use. Not to mention the iphone is sexy and the only people i know with androids are weirdos. thats not meant to offend anyone of course but its true.

  • Sorry if this is sounding harsh OP but the Android OS is just so superior to iOS in so many ways that it really is laughable. Albeit each OS has its different advantages and disadvantages, but the central theme for Android is customization. You can do SOOOOOO much in terms of customization with Android that it's just absurd. Live wallpapers, widgets, face detection unlock (it actually works really well), open source code, developer SDKs, rooting (is MUCH better than jail breaking), notifications bar (a million times better in nearly every way) etc. Plus, iPhone lacks a lot of key features. Removable batteries, SD cards, USB ports, HDMI ports, better cameras (with certain models), maps that don't suck, Google service integration and on and on. My Android syncs seamlessly with my Chrome browser and my Google calendar. And also.... WIDGETS WIDGETS WIDGETS!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! You do not understand how godly these are until you try them yourself. /rant

Bloatware? What's bloatware? In all seriousness, I have an old VZW Android and Galaxy Nexus. Neither of which had bloatware. But now its ridiculously easy to minimize its impact. You either disable the app (won't run, start service processes or appear in your app drawer) or take it one step further and root it and delete the damned things.

I remember when phones used to fit in your pocket. Apparently bigger is the new smaller.
