Larry Niven's "Destiny's Road"

Just for the fact that Bungie used a Larry Niven concept for their last series (Ringworld, anyone?). I was walking through the bookstore the other day and notice a book by Niven called "Destiny's Road." I pick the book up off the shelf and check the cover out. While doing this, I can't help but notice the similarity between the circular city/structure on this book cover and the Last City from Destiny. Now, this could just be some sort of chance happening, but given the past as a reference point for the future...I couldn't resist.

  • It's not impossible, a lot of good Sci-fi is derivative. But Ringworld, as you've stated, doesn't really take anything more than the setting, a giant ring, I've not read Destiny's Road but what I can glean from google seems to suggest that the only links here are the title and the circular city. It could just be a coincidence, or Bungie paying tribute to one of the most influential people in Sci-fi. Perhaps Jason Jones is a fan?
