I'm a little confused... What is the point of a Chromebook Pixel?

Just to ensure everyone is up to speed, Google created another Chromebook. They're calling it the Chromebook Pixel. Here's a review. Now, let's ensure I'm getting things straight. It's got Google OS, which means it's basically Google Chrome with a few offline features. It's also got phenomenal hardware specs. There will be no arguing that point. The only bottleneck I can tell of is the HDD space. The idea is that it's centered around an internet connection. Everything you do is, in theory, done online so you don't exactly need a big HDD. The problem is... not everything can be done online. How do you photoshop a picture? Code a program? Connect to a server? Anyone who knows anything about the internet will say that Web Apps have come a long way in the last five years. But they haven't reached the point to totally and completely replace the desktop interface. So... if I'm getting this right, you are basically paying $1,200 for a web browser with a little bit of offline stuff. What the hell kind of marketing strategy is that?
