Well, there is no water in the river and you can't see the spiders, but you can see their webs and earlier in the scene you can also see cocoons hanging from the ceiling.
This is the same cave as the one where you see the Space Zombies, the big chained up guy and the three Guardians storming in and firing their weapons.

It's not that we don't care, it's that we've already seen this information. It's cool information regardless, and it's cool to see that Bungie has been jerking our chains way back in those other mailsacks, but it's nothing new. Almost anything in everything we've seen has been analyzed by each of us TO DEATH. Sorry to pop your bubble. But for discussion value: I don't know if the webs come from the Space Zombies or from the Spider pirates. Spider pirates are 'The Fallen', from what I understand. OR maybe the webs are just from spiders in general. Real spiders forced underground because of the impending doom that put the universe in the state that it's in. We all know what happens to trees when a flood happens. If not, look it up.
