The sexualization of women in media is hardly anything new. TV, movies, advertising, gaming... I think the major difference is that in gaming, people construct the imagery, some times from scratch. Sure, it's manipulated in movies and adverts, but gaming can create completely unrealistic proportions, armor, or outfits. It's certainly geared toward a particular audience, but it hardly promotes healthy self imagery. Some are more overt than others *cough* DOA Xtreme volleyball *cough*. It would be nice to see more accurate portrayals, and less obvious "marketing tool" type characters.
