So yeah, that happened. Israeli strike planes bombed a military research facility northwest of Damascus. Israel doesn't bomb targets outside of Israel and Palestine often. Apparently the Israelis bombed the base to prevent a shipment of weapons provided by Assad's regime from getting to Hezbollah.
Yeah the shipment included anti-air missiles to shoot down Israeli aircraft, which is bad news for Israel because like America they rely heavily on their airpower also.
No word yet on which type of aircraft were used for the airstrike but there's a good chance they used their F-15Es and F-16s along with their other F-15s for escort against the Syrian Air Force.

I support the move 100% on the basis of their self defense. I'm actually not buying that Israel attacked a research facility; instead, I'm going with what US and Lebanese officials are saying, in that Israel attacked a convoy carrying SA-17's. The reason being, it makes sense for Syria to say that Israel bombed a research facility (not a military target) to bolster support for the Assad regime. Apparently, the FSA actually took credit for the attacking on the research facility. Either way, something major made Israel strike. Despite what people may claim, Israel isn't stupid. They know that this is a complex situation and that any little strike may trigger a big consequence. Whatever prompted them to strike, had to be major. I'm of the belief that something was headed for Hezbollah; as a result, they (Israel) decided to strike. They've made several warnings to Syria about the movement of weapons or chemical agents to Hezbollah would trigger something of this nature.
