  • I'm not gonna go into my workout regimen, but I'll share some things I've learned from weekly PT at the Marine Corps Recruiting Office. All this comes straight from them, and hasn't been fact-checked by me, so if I'm wrong at any point feel free to say something. Anyway, first rule of working out, STAY HYDRATED. Your body needs water, make sure you get some in you regularly. Now, I will say this for morning workouts: Coffee does not dehydrate you. It's a myth, a fabrication, there is not enough in coffee to negate the fact that the entire liquid content is water. That doesn't mean it's as good as just a plain glass of water, but if you need a cup of coffee to get you going in the morning don't be worried about it. You should still drink a glass of water before working out though. Also, eat something, but not too soon before you start your workout. Working out on a full stomach isn't a good idea. Ever feel lethargic after a good meal? It's not just the tryptophan in that whole turkey you ate (you fatass), if your body is busy with digesting and processing your food, it's not going to be able to put forth a good effort in your workout. You'll get tired faster, you'll feel more sluggish and slow. You're also putting yourself at a high risk for cramps, particularly if you just started a workout regimen and your body isn't acclimated to the stress of working out yet. However, even if you work out first thing after you wake up in the morning, eat something lightweight (like half a banana) at least half an hour before you workout. Food is fuel, just like a car you can go further if your tank is full than if you're running on last week's fumes.
