Anyone know why my companion app account apparently doesn't have permission to contact and chat in the clan forum? I just joined a new clan and I've never seen this before.

3 RepliesHi there, Thank you for reaching out. Most of the time this comes down to one of a few things rather than your clan itself being “locked.” Try these in order: Confirm you’re actually a clan member In the Companion app or on bungie.net, open the clan page and check the roster. You should show as a Member (not Pending, Invited, or only in the “Group” but not the clan). If you’re pending, you won’t be able to post/chat yet—have an admin fully accept you. Sign out and back into the Companion app (with the correct account) Fully sign out of the app. Sign back in using the same platform account that’s actually in the clan (e.g., the PSN/Xbox/Steam profile you play on). If you recently changed linked accounts or Bungie Name, the app can get “stuck” on the wrong profile until you do this. Check your phone’s app permissions On your device, go to the Companion app’s permissions. Make sure it’s allowed at least Storage/Media (and Notifications if you care about alerts), then force-close and reopen the app. There’ve been cases where missing OS permissions caused “no permission” style errors for viewing/sending messages. Check Bungie.net privacy/communication settings On bungie.net, go to Settings → Privacy. Make sure anything related to messages / clans / groups isn’t set so restrictively that it blocks communication. Rule out a communication restriction If your Bungie.net account has ever been restricted/banned from messaging/forums, you may be able to join clans but not post.
