It reminded of things I missed.
Started strikes in open world and helped some other people with a public event first then moved on to my strike. Always loved that.
Doing just location material farming helped a few teams with what seemed like a mission or strikes they were running.
I haven't seen it again in a while but I used to love to hang out on Venus just to help folks start the vault of glass raid. I don't understand why they pulled away from these interactions when these were the interactions that made this game so unique and awesome

If they reverted that final crucible patch, it would be more fun, but it’s been way too long to expect that.

2 RepliesEdited by Galactic Zones: 3/7/2026 5:02:30 PMSame here! I just reinstalled D1 for the first time in years. Having a lot of fun playing old missions and strikes. I was surprised how populated the tower is. Good to see people still playing the game.

1 ReplyI’m back on it and having fun. I’ll be back on D2 when Shadow … drops. Both games are great fun imo. And I’m kinda pleased that the next season has been delayed. It’s going to be improved and I get a reason to play D1.

1 ReplyThe 30fps kills me but I’m playing it a lil again. Eyes have to get used to it.

This kind of thing made the game more organic and interesting. It’s crazy that they completely moved away from this.

Edited by Rainbine 9545: 3/5/2026 5:28:26 PMI tried d1 too, don’t get me wrong I love the game but I don’t miss the quest and the slow movement and camera turn Don’t get me wrong d1 is solid but d2 is better in the movement and fluidness of movement but story and attention to detail is definitely in d1s area when it comes to location as it’s not heavily saturated and made to look pretty Mix the gritty look of d1 with some of the new upgraded looks and maybe turn the saturation down maybe just maybe you would have a good looking d2 that doesn’t look like it’s trying to make you fall for it with just being shiny

It holds up!

I forgot about that. There was a place on the way up to Omnigul that passed through a patrol zone where a defend the thing pub event would rarely happen. People would veer off the road to help out some random guy on patrol before continuing

I started over D1 as well. It does bring back memories and nostalgia, and I also can see why I liked it back then, kind of simple there was actually more dialogue and a different feel to the game. so far, I’m having fun because there’s really no pressure just casual play. Impossible to get a PVP match for me there’s just nobody playing for that, but with destiny one I just see a difference in the way that the company cared about that version of the game
....just to help folks start the vault of glass raid. I don't understand why they pulled away from these interactions when these were the interactions that made this game so unique and awesome
Made the MMO actually feel like a MMO. It's a shame these interactions have essentially been removed from the game. Could've been revisited with the Pale Heart quite easily. Instead they just privatized the entire location. Shame.

3 RepliesCheck out the discord server "the last city." It's a group of D1 players still running strikes and raids on both Xbox and PS. . I'm doing a replay of D1 from the grave to the black heart right now.
-
I still play D1 from time to time. Been a while, think i'm due to go back to the tower.

1 ReplyDude the Destiny 1 tower is for some reason more full than usual and I was playing Crucible yesterday with a party of 6 (including me) and helping randoms doing Nightfalls. I'm guessing people grinded out Renegades and came back to D1 because I'm seeing a lot of veterans back and it's pretty cool
-
I used to love to solo the nightfalls, back when you would get booted to orbit on a single death. I loved my old sparrow that sounded like a Harley Davidson, my laughing flaming skull mask from Season 15 Festival of the Lost, and the Michael Jackson themed thriller dance emote. I think it’s time to whip out the old D1 disk and take a look around the system again.

Anytime I log on all I get is constant error codes when loading into strikes or the tower it is getting irritating now.

1 ReplyBecause of the types of encounter you’d have in public scenarios. Forcing a random lv 10 blueberry to fight a lv40 Overload Captain wouldn’t be particularly… feasible. And ultimately, this is a rather inconsequential interaction that, while making the world feel a bit more alive, wasn’t nearly as important as say, Strike Specific loot or some -blam!-.
