Steam > settings > In game > Enable "Show performance monitor" > Performance detail level (set to all) > Enable "Show FPS Avg/Min Graph". In Destiny 2, at the title screen, look at the down arrow in the overlay, if it turns red, and often, you're affected.
I noticed the higher the games framerate the more likely the issue is to appear. At 60fps not so much, at 72fps+, it is more likely to happen.
Does not happen in any other game on pc. I have read it is do with with flip model being changed.
Need to know more? Google search "Edge of fate stuttering".
This happens after a clean install of windows 10 and windows 11, no background tasks, on a more than capable machine (ryzen 5800x3d, rtx 4080, 32gb ram, nvme)
Thank you Bungie for releasing a near future fix.

This is still not fixed and it is buried on third page. Can someone from Bungie skeleton crew that is working on this game, at least, acknowledge this issue?

Same thing happens on my end. It started when Exclusive Fullscreen was removed. Fix this already, it is unplayable. This is not issue with Windows, not an issue with Nvidia or AMD, this is issue on Bungie's end and only they can fix this.

Edited by Richard Simmons: 2/10/2026 11:56:28 PMThanks for bringing this up again. It's been this way since this past summer when exclusive fullscreen was removed. There have been a few threads on this showing the same frame graph and yet nothing has been officially acknowledged.

Edited by Golden: 2/10/2026 7:06:04 PMGames poorly optimized, more people slowly have been issues with FPS and stutters if you go on the PC section here and Reddit too. Been having this issue with a damn 5070 and a Ryzen 7700. The ONLY game that gives me issues lmao.

I have exactly the same problems. System 14700K + 4090. Steam performance graph looks like a sawtooth. I'm using a 150 fps frame rate limit. The developers simply forgot about optimization.

I’m experiencing something similar. i9-14900K RTX 4080 32 GB RAM Windows 11 pro SSD NVME

Edited by WormHerder: 2/10/2026 8:32:08 PMSame issue here. Even more noticeable in PVP 6v6 maybe netcode related? Ive had the issue get worse then better then worse again since edge of fate release. Destiny 2 is the only game that gives me consistant stuttering and hitching. Its enough to give me slight headaches. RTX 5070ti i7-14700F DDR4 32GB Windows 11 Latest NV drivers Latest Bios Version Also I saw nvidia say to uninstall latest Windows update because it is causing frame drops. I did this but didnt notice it fix Destiny performance in any meaningful way.

5 RepliesHi there! Please follow the steps outlined below to provide an accurate system report. Please do not follow these steps while Destiny 2 is running. 1. Restart your machine. 2. When you log in, please click on the Windows icon, then type dxdiag. If typed correctly, only one command should appear. Please click it. (If you need to enter the credentials of an administrator of the PC, please do so). 3. Allow the tool to run. A green bar should progress on the bottom portion of the window. If you receive any dialogue boxes as it progresses, please address them accordingly. 4. Once the tool is completed, please click on the "Save All Information" button. Save the resulting text file in an easy to find location, such as your Desktop. Then, close the tool. 5. Open the text file you just created and copy all of text to your clipboard by selecting all of it (Ctrl+A) and copying it (Ctrl +C OR rightclick and click Copy). Then, close the file. 6. Go to pastebin.com 7. In the text box below, paste all of the text in the box. 8. If you would like to make your system specs hidden, you can change the Paste Exposure to Unlisted. This will hide it from the Public section of the site but still allow people to view your Paste. Then, click the Create New Paste button. 9. Copy the resulting URL and reply back to this comment with the URL.
