Bungie it only needs one change to fix the loot chase

Dear Bungie, The loot chase has a Major flaw at the moment and that is after you hit max Power you get tier 5 gear everywhere and it gets very easy to get everything you want and then you just have no motivation to play anymore because there is nothing to chase for. In my opinion it only needs one small change to fix this Problem. Tier 5s shouldend be guaranteed drops but need to be treaded like Adept drops where treated before. They should be rare drops you get Every once in a while and only should be guaranteed drops from endgame activities like gm's, Dungeons, feat raids, lighthouse chest and so on. This would bring the chase back and at the same time make end game activities relevant again.

  • This was the driving force behind resetting our power level every new DLC launch. Not resetting power and Bungie saying this: Even if our execution had been perfect, and we see plainly that it was not, it is clear that grinding Power will never be a substitute for earning a trophy. Climbing though throwaway tiers en-route to the gear you want to build around isn’t aspirational. And the Portal itself surrenders too much of Destiny’s feeling of place and exploration. Combined with Exotics and old weapons not having Tiers, I think the days of Gear Tiers are numbered.

  • I disagree. I just made it to 550 and I want all T5.😁

  • I don’t think loot is the problem. There are very fun, powerful, and varied weapons within edge of fate. It’s the activities in the portal, and the portal itself at large that suck -blam!-, especially on higher “difficulties” with ridiculous modifiers.

The problem is that in all of their demos and livestreams, they showed gameplay of Players caked in Tier 5 loot. Every single slot was T5. Making it seem like getting tier 5 loot was going to be easy. So when players booted up EoF for the first time, and was just barely starting to get T4s after 3 weeks, it felt bad. Bungie does this with every single launch. They’ll show off the best of the best loot you can’t easily get in a reasonable time frame right off the bat. They did it for Into the Light and Rite of the nine with Shinies and they did with EoF. They should have showed off T3-4s and NO tier 5s, stating that they were a product of skill and time, with SOME RNG. Obviously that’s all out the window now. If you’re 450, losing a crucible game gets you 4 tier 5s and now they’re just giving it away in the tower with the current event. The best of the best loot is now treated as “normal” and anything below that is subpar and bad. I have no clue how they’ll fix this so loot feels meaningful again, but I’m sure whatever they do, it’ll piss off whatever is left of the community.

The thing is they killed the soul of the game. And everyone left. So there's less to play for. Nobody would grind up to 500 or 550 just to get the best weapons rarely.

This is how I thought it was going to be when I first read about T5 gear. Thought only those that dared challenging content would get it, like adept drops. The issue is that Bungie took the approach of power grind being the endgame. With that approach they simply saw anyone at the right power level as having reached the pinnacle and granted them T5 loot. With that said, its too late to "fix" it. The entire system was built on a huge power grind from 10 to 550, and its easy to forgot now that we have completed it but that grind wasnt easy. Anyone that invested the time to complete it, deserves the reward.
