The New “Orders” System Feels Unnecessary and Out of Touch

I really don’t understand why Bungie decided to replace the bounty system with this new Orders system. Nobody in the community was asking for this, and there wasn’t really anything wrong with the old setup. Bounties were simple, consistent, and worked well for players who wanted something straightforward to work toward. This new system feels like another unrequested overhaul, similar to the Portal system. It seems more like a distraction than an improvement. It’s hard not to feel like time and resources are being poured into features that don’t actually solve the problems players have been voicing for years. What players have been asking for are new and engaging activities that bring people back, fresh content and meaningful rewards, and real bug fixes and quality of life improvements that address long standing frustrations. Instead, we’re seeing energy spent on reinventing systems that weren’t broken. It gives the impression that Bungie is focused on internal redesigns rather than addressing the actual content drought or overall player experience. I’m sure the developers worked hard on the Orders system, but it just doesn’t feel like something the community needed or wanted. What players truly want are reasons to log in, things that make Destiny 2 exciting again. Systems like this don’t do that. They just reshuffle what we already have under a new name. Please, Bungie, take a step back and listen to the feedback. We want new adventures, not new menus. We want stability and fun, not another layer of complexity on systems that already worked.

There is quite a lot of valid criticism of the system even without needing to wait and see based on info directly from bungie themselves. The removal of seasonal challenges in favor of the orders system is terrible and will blow up in their face. Currently the main source of Bright Dust is Seasonal Challenges which are pretty good and give a variety of different objectives for you to engage with various activities in the game. Seasonal challenges are also a lot more player friendly due to being able to put the game down for a month and come back and still have those challenges there to knock out for the bright dust and XP. The new order system however that is replacing them has weekly gain limits, so you gain more bright dust from objectives until you reach 1000 bright dust for the week. Afterwards you gain 10 or 20 BD from legendary and exotic objectives. The major issue with this is now basic objectives post 1k BD are now worthless as they give you NOTHING for completing them after reaching the weekly 1k bright dust. Then you are now fomo'd to login weekly for bright dust gains rather than being able to put the game down for a month and come back and still earn the same bright dust as everyone else. The seasonal limit which is 6000 BD for exotic orders is again terrible unless it is reset each major update which is likely not the case since its seasonal. Right now you get 4k bright dust for completing most seasonal challenges PER major update that adds up to 8000 bright dust for a season not including the BD you gain from the various challenges. The only thing we can wait and see about is how easily these objectives are completable just passively. But it seems to be just repeatable bounties minus needing to actually pick them up from a vendor. Honestly this is a lot of work for something that didn't really need to be done when repeatable bounties worked just fine just needed small adjustments to objectives.
