after poor sales of marathon . Sony will cut there losses and liquidate bungie selling rights to content investment studios, more then likely making money off there investments . so unless marathon is game of the year it wouldn't be enough revenue to float destiny.

No....bring back D1
-
Bungie is shutting down in 5 weeks. Marathon will be DOA. 🤡

Edited by ΞsnΛχΞ: 10/12/2025 9:16:33 AMIf they made D3, I wouldn’t buy it. I have nothing but contempt left for Bungo. This game is the most infuriating, awful, off-putting sht experience I have EVER had in a very long history of gaming. It is just complete garbage. This game used to be amazing. Now everything sucks so bad! It’s like the game is giving you the finger every time you sign on. They don’t deserve your money and they definitely don’t deserve our loyalty.

LFG now stands for, Looking For a Game.

I agree with your title, but not necessarily with your solution. For a D3 to happen it has to build on what D2 already has. It cannot launch with just one raid and dungeon. It has to launch with some legacy R&D content. All R&D content has to have an explorer mode to onboard people into R&D content more easily. It has to have something unique. I’ve seen suggestions that we just have Prismatic class but have access to all the aspects and fragments from all the mono subclasses. Giving more build diversity. I’m not sure it’d work but there has to be something unique about the builds or subclasses. Maybe, just maybe, like I and many others have suggested for years now, how about Lightbearers from our allies (Cabal and Eliksni) or new Guardian classes that are distinct from Titan, Warlock and the other one… just kidding Hunter mains. Or even a class that is more like the original lightbearers were, not really fitting into distinct classes but are a class version of Prismatic. I.e. you can have a selection of supers from the 3 original classes of T, W and H but also with some hybrid or unique abilities. We must leave the solar system and fight new enemies that have been infested with the Winnower’s philosophy, like the Hive but not the Hive. ( We can also fight the Hive, because who doesn’t like fighting those Chitin covered monsters?) It has to have a better campaign that allows current, lapsed and new players be able to understand the story and have a synopsis that is better than the current new light experience in D2. And lastly current day Bungie has to only be tangentially involved as they were with DR. Just to allow a different, less jaded and more competent developer to take the reins for D3. Now none of this is going to ever happen. But it’s nice to dream. Realistically I feel this game is done. I hate to even say it because despite the demented rhetoric from the Bungie defenders saying I hate this game, I don’t. I want it to continue on. However, simply given the state of the spaghetti code alone and the perpetual issues it causes whenever Bungie implement even a minor change in D2, means this game is probably not going to last much longer.

Genuine question? What would Destiny 3 fix when it’s the EXACT same developers who messed up Destiny 2? Same leadership, same developers, same garbage game with a 3 slapped on it, enjoy I guess.
-
Ummm making D3 solves nothing. It's the same people sinking D2. D3 would be a huge disaster
-
Won’t fix anything. Game needs a new developer.
-
Do you honestly believe the issues with d2 won't be in d3?
-
So u dont think D3 would be a mess if bungo developed it?
-
There is no way Sony would invest in D3 right now, the game is in such a bad state with low numbers we are more at risk of them pulling the plug on the game or like D1 just not doing anymore updates after Renegades. Until they start to do the changes needed to fix feelings about the game no one will want to invest much into the game. They are banking on Marathon pulling them out but I think it is already dead in the water, the feelings around Bungo and their games now is the worst it has ever been.
-
You're okay with the idea of sitting on the franchise for several years?
-
This was them retrofitting what a D3 would look like onto the bones of what remains of D2. Don't pretend making this its own release would be any better.

Edited by Stalkholm: 10/11/2025 5:25:16 PMMaking Destiny 3 wouldn't fix Destiny 2, in fact making Destiny 3 would probably make Destiny 2 worse since Bungie would have to move their best developers onto the project, meaning D2 would get even fewer fixes and less new content than it's getting right now. I mean, people are angry about Bungie diverting resources to Marathon, a game that's nearly finished and due out in 2026, how would they feel about Bungie diverting resources for a game that might not come out until 2031? Putting Bungie's devs on D3 would mean a five or six year content drought in D2, driving Destiny 2's player counts even lower than they are right now, and hurting the only asset that is bringing any money at all into Bungie. D2 is in a rough state, I agree, but the solution isn't to build a whole new game, the solution is to fix the game they've already made. Even if Bungie started on D3 today, that wouldn't help Destiny 2, in fact it's likely that diverting resources to D3 would make D2's problems even worse.

Edited by Strider: 10/11/2025 6:33:18 PMYou do realise that IF they were to make a D3, it'll be D1 + D2 sold back to us as new content, think about it, same armour, same gun models etc. For selfish reasons, I would like for Marathon to fail spectacularly and them concentrating again on making D2 a better game. I'm not saying that a company cannot make another game BUT to take most of the devs away from Destiny and let the rest of the loyal players in D2 down in this way is the reason I feel this way. Edit: to add more reasoning.
-
Yup...I want D3 too. I'm willing to wait.
Make D3
Nah.

What if they re-skin Marathon to D3 and change the whole game? 🤔 They could even keep the shitty extraction thing as an extra mode. Wait, is Marathon on a decent Engine or still the archaic Tiger?
