Think we will look back and realise this was the point of no return, hard to see how Destiny recovers from this.[/quote] It seems that marathon is in a crunch stage right now, taking resources away that used to go rewards destiny. They have a majority of the developers working on destiny making the next expansion. If I could choose the future of the franchises I’d have Destiny 2 getting very sparse updates while they work on a sequel. The best time to do that would have been after final shape though. While narratively, starting as a new player with EoF is really good, that’s new player has to go through the pre final shape new light campaign, which doesn’t directly lead into EoF. If they start as free to play, they go from that new light campaign to the portal, which has a lot of old content with lore from so many different time periods. A new player is gonna do an empire hunt and have no idea what’s going on and then play a reclaim activity that takes place 4 years later in the lore and just be entirely lost with what there playing. There is no way to fix this onboarding without making an entirely new start to the game, which would be better done with a sequel.
