Thanks for trying
I think it is very clear that some people in Bungie are trying their hardest to keep Destiny alive after a *long* series of very bad leadership decisions have lead us to the pathetic state the game is in.
We can acknowledge that some of the developers are trying their best, while simultaneously recognising that their results are mediocre.
I can recognise effort, while not supporting my own exploitation by Bungie.
There is clear shortage of resources, and a large number of incredibly exploitive measures put into this game, as a desperate attempt to squeeze as much money and engagement from players as possible.
Think we will look back and realise this was the point of no return, hard to see how Destiny recovers from this.

2 RepliesAgreed one thousand percent. I tried but I couldn't even get past the first few days after it released. This has never been on the devs and rests solely on the shoulders of management and the C-suite.

8 RepliesMy take is a bit different. I think they are not trying, but being forced to concede to players wishes because the game is doing so poorly right now. I do not believe it is in good will, or good faith that these changes are happening, but they are being forced from upper management because the game the devs designed is not doing well. By upper management I mean SONY, not bungie's management. If by chance I am wrong than there will be a lot more changes. However, removal of low level quickplay options for players that do not want to play master level and higher content does not speak of good changes but a continued effort by bungie to force players into master, GM and ultimate modes. I never have and never will play master, GM and ultimate modes. I do not do the legendary campaign. I do not play this game for difficulty, but for fun, easy to enjoy shooting of bad guys. I am not looking forward to having to build every activity individually any time I want to run something, which means I will be doing everything by myself, because customizing removes match maker. Time will tell.

1 ReplyActually, they really don't care about the die hard players opinions. If they did, then Destiny would in fact be in a better place. Bungie has shown us this time and time again. Also, who's trying to fix the situation. Renegades will not fix the portal situation or grind nor game quality of life problems.

6 RepliesI did pick up that they fixed two of the issues people have complained about: Banshee is giving for bounties again instead of just two. Notary Manifolds can now be deleted completely on under five seconds. So I will thank then for that.

8 RepliesIf everyone were doing a good job, they wouldn't be cycling through leadership like they are. The whole company needs a makeover. What's out right now is not good. Doesn't matter how hard they're trying. If I order McDonald's and ask for no onions on a burger, and I get onions on my burger, I'm not blaming the president of McDonald's for it. I blame them for raising prices, I blame the worker for the onions. That's how I view D2. The prices are going up and there are onions on my burger.

They have a majority of the developers working on destiny making the next expansion. If I could choose the future of the franchises I’d have Destiny 2 getting very sparse updates while they work on a sequel. The best time to do that would have been after final shape though. While narratively, starting as a new player with EoF is really good, that’s new player has to go through the pre final shape new light campaign, which doesn’t directly lead into EoF. If they start as free to play, they go from that new light campaign to the portal, which has a lot of old content with lore from so many different time periods. A new player is gonna do an empire hunt and have no idea what’s going on and then play a reclaim activity that takes place 4 years later in the lore and just be entirely lost with what there playing. There is no way to fix this onboarding without making an entirely new start to the game, which would be better done with a sequel.

It's Friday, the whole weekend is to come and I've already run the new exotic mission 3 times to get everything, I have reached rank 20 on the portal and done all I want to do in arms week ... there is literally nothing I want to do so I will check xur later today and that's it until next tuesday reset. 😴

13 RepliesNo PL reset. Power cap constant at 550. God roll loot left and right. I think it's more than trying. It's solid improvements and I like them. I still haven't bought EoF yet I can do majority of stuff, even the new Heliosat mission which I enjoyed a lot. For free. Thank you! Personally I am now considering buying EoF at the next discount offer. Thx Bungie for listening and improving. Is it perfect? It never was. The developers are doing the best they can, period, in particular with restricted resources. I won't blame people working hard in the background. Imho. This old man will continue grinding a bit longer.

But there's only so many times you can polish & repackage a turd before it's flat & we're at the diarrhea stage now, stuffing it into wet paper & hoping some sticks

So the problem likely lies with either past management or present management. There are pieces of genuinely good content or things that had high potential but were botched. Stuff like the exotic pulse from ash and iron is a great example. It’s a cool gun with a clean design and it performs very well. The armor sets from eververse look great. The problem is it feels bad when it feels like everything cool is behind a paywall.

1 ReplyI agree that these people also need to read good stuff too. They're personally responsible of hours and hours of enjoyment for myself. So I add my positive vibes to this message. Here's a list of things I enjoy from this era of Destiny that deserve a pat on the back even if it's not everything. 1. Armor sets 2. stat changes 3. tiered weapons 4. story from keplar 5. new play styles from keplar campaign 6. new exotic armor for each class is good 7. New weapon designs exp. (rocket pulse, sreadshot HC) These are all pretty good additions to the game.

I feel like Bungie is listening, like they are trying to right the ship, it's just that there aren't enough players in-game to really notice the changes, the changes came slowly and people got tired of waiting. Plus, there are still problems with the game, like the Unstable Core economy, and players being pushed into difficult content sooner than they can handle it. (Edit: Rolling back unpopular Exotic reworks also seems like a good step.) It's an unfortunate mess. People aren't wrong to leave, but I also think a lot of them would be pleasantly surprised to come back, at least if they play Warlock. But yes, shout out to the devs who are doing the good work, because there [i]is[/i] good work being done.

Back in July they were about to release EoF and Marathon a couple months later. Fair to assume they had a scaled down vision of D2 expansion for this year as they reallocated efforts to Marathon and maybe tried avoid competition on the release window. Then Marathon alpha comes along, and feedback is mid at best, then come the artwork controversy, and now they have to completely scrap their plan and go back to work for months, meanwhile EoF miss the mark and requires work to be where it’s supposed to be. So now instead of having two games running, generating revenues. They have one hemorrhaging player by the day that requires a lot of work, while the other one is still not making any money and probably going over budget. It is a tough situation to be in and there are no easy way out, s*** load of money help but it would still take time anyway.
