Let's see all the things Halo 4 and 5 did that caused these games to fail at the long run:
1. Halo 4 and 5 were notorious for their overhauling of gameplay/UI mechanincs, plus the loss of many gamemodes, some of them classical to Halo and beloved by the fans, which deviated too much from the feel of previous games and left fans wondering if it was even Halo anymore.
Edge of Fate did exacly that
2. Halo 4 and 5 had messy, mostly nonsensical storylines, which deviated too much from the games original lore and nearly ruined it forever
Edge of Fate did exacly that
3. Halo 4 and 5 also overhauled their grinding/reward system. Instead of investing in ''earnability'' and allowing players to get different cosmetics by just playing, they filled the game with microtransactions and a crap ton of half-assed cosmetics just to suck as much money as they could (which was also an issue in Infinite)
Edge of Fate (and to some extent before) did exacly that
4. Halo 4 and 5 completely screwed the games balancing. They replaced the classical weapon-drops and mid-combat looting with pre-made loadouts with some very problematic weapons that dominated the meta and ruined the classic gameplay cycle. For the PVE, they filled the game with ridiculously difficult enemies with all kinds of bullshit, get-outta-jail-free-card mechanics.
Modern Crucible, and post Lightfall PVE have become exacly this
5. Halo 4 and 5 also overhauled their graphics engine. The previous games had a very distinct art style, models, colors and shading, which just weren't present in 4 and 5. These new graphics had a weird feel to them, some models felt too different and contributed to the confusing lore, the colors and shading made every spartan look like a plastic toy, and a lot of props to feel cheap, and it didn't help how some maps were made with completely recycled props and positioning from one another
Edge of Fate did exacly that
So the former studio responsible for Halo has made the same mistakes that caused modern Halo's downfall with their new IP. Talk about some irony

the system changes to destiny are WAY worse than anything that ever happened to halo destiny 2 has increased all grinds in a LOOTER SHOOTER by 40x or more, with no extra content or rewards - in fact most of it is recycled or getting our same stuff back again halo's pve experience was largely unchanged except for removing local coop in one game and they added that garbage slot machine card system to multiplayer - halo infinite is honestly the worst changes thus far with a bad season pass grind for largely crappy cosmetics in destiny you can't even get a fair fight anymore without a hundred plus hours of grinding incredibly tedious and monotonous activities that consistently make you feel weaker as you level up halo is still halo, destiny is no longer remotely the same game
