I’ve been around long enough to know that when Bungie says something that sounds too good to be true there’s always strings attached somehow.
So let me guess, we keep our power but you’re just going to add another 500 to it in Renegades anyway right ?
We keep our cores but you’re gonna double the cost of infusion right ?
Hopefully I’m wrong but Bungie are pros at taking two steps forward then three steps back right after.

I think the catch this time is if people dont come back the game shuts down.
-
That’s what I was thinking…. Almost certain we will see a huge increase….

Edited by goldy411: 10/8/2025 4:43:16 AMThey created a much worse infusion system (unstable cores vs the prior upgrade module) in hopes to get more playtime hours. They should have completely scrapped it. Instead they said hey we’re allowing you to keep your cores in an attempt for a “win” but nothing on changing the cost of infusion.

The light cap going up is my expectation. But maybe they surprise us. Because going back to 200 and raising the light cap by 300 are the same thing 🤷🏻♂️
-
Giving you a reason to play & use your resources isn't a catch, dip. It's literally game design.
-
Apparently it’s that everything will now be -50 delta. You wanted to actually use a primary weapon? Too bad.
-
The catch is probably that they’re going to raise the power cap to like 750 and make T5 drop at 700. There’s ALWAYS a catch with Bungie.
-
They'll keep the power but find another reason not to let us keep getting tier 5's. If we want Renegades tier 5's (even pvp ones) we'll have to gain another 100-150 levels. Want newest T5? Grind power. You made it to getting these T5? Too bad, the new seasons ones are better so better get power grinding again. Made it again? Guess what you gotta do? Power grind because these new ones are better. Crafting was better? Too bad. Only chase and grind, no fun loot for casuals allowed.

Bungie giveth with one hand and picks thy pocket with the other.
-
With that lot, there's always a catch.
-
They never have both hands on the table.
-
The catch is we'll probably steamroll through Renegades in one day. Look at Ash and Iron. There is no content. The content is we continued the grind to 550. That's it. Renegades was probably built the same way; us grinding back up from 200. Now that that's gone, Bungie has two months to replace all that "content" with something else to prevent players from getting bored within a week.
-
Increase light by 200 Sunset EoF weapons Silently add Beyond Light and a couple strikes and a Raid into the Content Vault. Real eyes realize real lies.
-
It’s ALWAYS the Monkey’s Paw with these aretards.

Someone on blue sky said the same thing what's the catch and I'll tell you what I told them the catch is bungee doesn't know what they're doing anymore they don't have the passionate use to they're not creative like they use to they refuse to make new content they want to constantly increase the power climb and increase Delta but they don't want to add additional new content new rewards that requires you to be over 500 and that's the problem with the current state of destiny... As I told someone else what's the point of 500 power or above when it's just all about guardian ranks because all due respect if to reach guardian rank if it didn't require you to be 400 people would not even bother to reach 400. It's pretty obvious that they increase adulta they increased a grind to help streamers stream more.
-
We will always be in ultimate mode to get tier 5 rewards.
-
Edited by mirage: 10/7/2025 6:12:36 PMPower gap is almost meaningless once you understand Bungie controls how you reach there. They may just add 50 power each cycle and make it extremely difficult to achieve (e.g. +1 gear with prime drop). They have also not stated T5 will drop consistently after 470 like it’s now. Levelling up should be a starter activity, not the whole damn game. There was a +10 power bump each release earlier and it was pretty fast to get enough artifact perks unlocked. Then it was up to players to do whatever they liked and wanted.

Bungee: The catches you can no longer put things in your vault. Have a nice day!
-
I don’t know if they can afford a “catch” anymore. If Renegades is trying to pull a fast one on the community there won’t be any coming back.
-
Maybe and I’m expecting hate But maybe they will make the grind easier
-
What exactly are you talking about? Maybe I missed something in the release today, but can you be a bit more specific? Yes there is always a catch. Like the fact they are giving a catch up chest with gear. They are giving us gear, BUT ... Is it random and maybe all bad gear not worth keeping.
-
As others have said, the likely "catch" is that Renegades was designed with a 200->400 Light Level grind in mind, how the gameplay will hold up to this change is the question. If we're supposed to be walking into Renegades at LL200, and we're playing at twice that, it could trivialize the campaign, which is frankly fine with me, I got my butt whooped in Kepler Legendary. (What can I say? I'm a mediocre player.) That said, having put a hundred some odd hours into getting just to LL373, I'm glad we're not being reset to zero. The grind burned me out, and anything that reduces that grind is welcome in my book. Probably another catch is that the Renegades campaign might be dropping gear in the LL200-LL300 range, which will feel bad, but still not as bad as starting over from scratch. From Bungie's perspective, the catch is that we won't have as much reason to grind, but I can't say I feel too bad about that, grinding is generally not my idea of fun.
