I usually don't post anything but I follow all D2 related news because I play everyday but with the introduction of The Portal, the Destination tab being obliterated and with no weekly story beats to keep the narrative interesting, D2 feels empty and lifeless like a mobile game.
I'm not sure where the nexus point for all of this started and I'm aware that downsizing has made development tricky but "streamlining" an already content deficient game has exposed how much content has been taken from the player base.
The PVP community has received nothing in years, Conquests attempting to replace Grandmasters has not been well received and the "new" content we've received feels like free trial versions of things we've already played. For example, I LIVED in Onslaught when Into The Light was released, I knew all 3 maps like my children's social security numbers and then we get the Portal and it's one map that doesn't change with no unique drops. That feels horrible as a player because the communication from Bungie has been "play however you want" but so many options have been removed that we can only play what Bungie tells us to.
I'm not sure what the answer is but continuously taking from the game, replacing it with SUPER stripped down versions of its previous self (see: Dungeon Lairs), smiling in the community's face like "look guys we did a thing!" THEN expecting the same community you've disrespected to finance it is high quality delusion.
The extremism in the community is a lot but its coming from a very real place and until Bungie understands that, we'll be forever stuck in this cycle or the player base finally walks away. No one wants the latter but you can't gamble that the community will never give up on you so you can keep putting out mediocracy.
Bungie might be "listening" but they're not HEARING anything that's being said. I pray that changes sooner than later.
Signed,
A D2 Veteran that desperately needs this company to improve the game I love.

Bungie lost its soul. They need to relocate the studio
