I forget the specific phrasing but it was something along the lines of "Truly doing good almost always requires personal sacrifice.". From my experience, a lot of people are happy to do good... As long as it's also convenient for them. But, truly helping someone else [i]isn't[/i] going to be convenient. Like, almost ever. By recognizing this fact, you're in turn led to another question of what's more important: helping others, or personal convenience. The answer, for me, at least, is helping others. If someone asks me for help, and it's something I can help with, I almost always will, even when it makes things worse for me personally.
