Bungie: greed is an UGLY face

I get it… you need money, job security and we are STILL giving you money so why stop now? But I wonder what honesty would do for the company? If they came out right and said yeah we are done with this IP no effort at all will be put towards it other than some cosmetic to help our pockets. would we have more respect for that? The whole bleed them dry thing is INSANE to me. I mean yeah, I wish I could make money selling dried doodoo to folks as well however I like human respect and transparency so I just wonder what honesty would do for them. Like just saying “yeah this game is a money grab now and we are using all your money you throw at us for other IP. Don’t like it? Don’t care” Then again judging by how so many companies get away with it in real life doings including politics being a facade I guess it does not matter. This hurts me to know this is it yeah I am weird….this stuff is morally rubbing me the wrong way and I cringe at this ongoing mentality displayed by so many businesses and leaders. I suppose I never considered a smaller company that once relied on their integrity to make stuff going down this road as well. Machiavellis ‘The Prince’ means nothing in the money making world. As in they neither respect nor fear not love us. Same for us to them. We do not have any for them. They just like “thats an object that I can bleed money from, okay, lets do it”

  • Bungie’s a 3.6 billion dollar company (or was). With any big company, it’s a numbers game. It’s about making the biggest profit possible. It’s not about morality or integrity. Those things only come into play when they are trying to position themselves as consumer friendly, or to differentiate themselves from the competition. The true goal is always profit. I’m not excusing it, just saying I wouldn’t expect anything different. However, I will excuse them using Destiny profits to make Marathon. If I buy something, I don’t get to decide what the seller spends their money on, do I? I will also say the “bleed them dry” thing suggests that players are helpless and have no other option but to keep spending money on Destiny, which is of course not true. I think I get what you mean, but in the context of the post, I’m not totally sure. TLDR: have a beer.
