D2 has a lot of content for players to grind and go through and unlike me or others like me most players do not have neither the time or the patience to hop in and out of activities they dont like or that they dont want to do just for some higher tier loot that could be accessed before in other ways but in a similar more player friendly way. Here is what i mean
The previous bounty system allowed players to recieve XP+Rep for what they wanted to grind for , it was a good way to reward those who went out of their way to complete bounties while playing the activities , the bounties although some more tedious than others were not hindering someones experience that much in order to complete them , the problem with the old bounty system is that the rewards were too miniscule in the grand scheme of things because the bounties Rep didnt scale with your rank with a given vendor , if the old bounty system was here now it would have been ideal if
1 - Daily bounty rep always gave a % of Rep on your rank lets say 15% (Based on Complete Rank Rep not missing Rep
2 - Repeatable bounties could be turned in for Vendor Engrams , lets say for every 4-5 bounties you got an Engram for the given vendor which would also make it much easier to focus weapons for people who dont have the time to repeat activities.
- Pathfinder
The Pathfinder system is good idea on paper for Destinations but it is not good for ritual activities because
1 - Vanguard , Gambit and the Crucible all share the same Pathfinder meaning that people have to go do stuff they dont want to just to claim XP for stuff they have already done or to finish the Pathfinder
2 - Unlike bounties Pathfinder objectives are way more demanding to the point were the player is inconvinienced not only to go do something they dont want but also do something tedious and specific but also do it well enough that they can get it the first time while also not having the luxury of expediting the activity ( Strikes and Gambit more enemies Crucible match timer)
3 - For the effort going into completing the Pathfinder even once the rewards are not worth it , were as the old system was Low effort - Low rewards this is High effort - Moderate reward
The best way to go about it imo is this
Either - Make Pathfinders Activity specific and having 4 tiers not 5 and drop the requirement for each objective by 10-20 %
Or - Bring back the old bounty system but with % rep gains on daily bounties and maybe Vendor Engram rewards for repeatables so that it would be worth while even for higher level players to care about normal ritual activities and so that people can get what they want in a more player friendly way.
-
I prefer bounties. They are more flexible. I say it (Pathfinder) needs to be more rewarding, or less restrictive.
-
I get every line done in 1 strike except a Gambit match that usually has some broken mandate like get ignition kills in gambit before teammate shoots them. Or last weeks deposit 400 motes and get credit for 6! Play how we want you to play!
-
Azura, Pronouns Haver
POWERWORD SCRUNCH - old
I think that they should either allow Pathfinder and bounties to coexist or give each activity its own pathfinder. And also remove anything with the words jolt, ignition, or volatile, because those are borderline undoable. -
Or just a better idea. Have the bounty system. But no need to take them from vendors. Have all of them "active" at the same time on a "bounty" menu. And just like the way you complete triumphs or weekly challenge you validate each bounty you completed.

Edited by H0WOOD: 6/22/2024 4:14:09 AMThe Pale Heart Pathfinder has no Crucible components. Well, none in two weeks. To get to the last, isn't too bad. They can pop up during Pale Heart activities, and if they don't, they're no worse than the old bounties. Solo is very doable. You don't actually have to "get" the "bounties." They work themselves. How-bleedin-ever, either of the the last two segments are pains! At first glance, just do a full Overthrow. OK... a full Overthrow is 3 lots of 1000 points, plus a boss fight. 1000 points can be tedious. Simple Kills are One point - count em, One . Chests are 20 or so, as are Materials. The best kick is a high value target which can net you 100, or a really high value target can net you 500 or so. Trouble is, they don't come around too often One every 20 or 30 minutes I'd say. Anyway, plow through 3 lots of 1000, then a boss fight which is allright, even for this lousy player. Die a bit though. This is solo. It speeds up a bit with a team. Kill the boss, and get a substantial chest! Yahoo, Pathfinder!!!! Ah no.... Sorry, not sorry. You have to do all this at least three times, if not four. (I lost count.) It's a bit ridiculous. A lot ridiculous really. I see it as Bungie's nasty, mean disposition. "Players complain about Crucible in Vanguard Pathfinder? Fine! We'll take out PvP, but make the PvE so -blam!- tedious and boring, the Players won't want to play it anyway." These sorts of impediments to fun playing aren't accidental. They're deliberate. Just in. Plowed through the Pale Hear Pathfinder. The loot? I'm glad you asked. One, as in "1", as in "a", as in less than "2", Pale Heart engram. Gee....

Edited by Grey Death Storm: 6/22/2024 10:28:05 PMI absolutely hate the new pathfinder system it's an exercise in frustration tried it out and there is some node that are not explained how to achieve this for example ignite enemies in gambit I do not know how to do this and when you target group enemies one you team mate 9 out 10 times takes them out before you hit them with your abilitys, it's extremely annoying and I will not be doing the path finder s chores of boredom anymore. Can we please revert back to the old system it is a pointless chore

Dude some of the Pathfinder steps don't even work at times. I have a step requiring me to jolt. I'm running Brigand's Law with Voltshot and Tempest Strike with Radiant Dance Machines. ALL I DO IS JOLT! And it didn't go up a single kill in 2 matches of Gambit

Edited by LadyGaladriel: 6/22/2024 6:40:57 AMI'd rather go back to the old bounties system as it was, than having to deal with the Pathfinder in any shape or form. Not only the Pathfinder forces you to play activities you don't want to play, but the way it's structured is wrong. It gives the illusion of choice with a number of paths at the beginning, but in the end it has a bottleneck where you have only three choices, often with the most aggravating requirements to be met right before you can unlock the final reward. Several times I have tried to complete those requirements only to find out at the end of the activity that nothing of what I did counted towards the completion of the node. Another concern is that in the future, what's to stop them from requiring the completion of tasks that you can access to only if you had purchased the latest Season? Then all the rest of the players would be just cut off from the rewards and XP or whatever they determine to be the case. Already many of the Season Challenges require you to have purchased the Season Pass to complete the activities they refer to. And by the way, the Season Challenges now reward only a fraction of the Bright Dust they used to give before.
-
I can already tell I’m not hitting rank 7 or 8 in guardian ranks this season lol. One of the requirements is to do vanguard path finder three times for one of those ranks. The minute I see something like jolt 50 targets in gambit, or get volatile kills in crucible, or get ignition kills in gambit, I’m out immediately. I have no interest in being forced to play a certain why just to progress my pathfinder.
-
It should have been each activity gets its own pathfinder, simple that’s it. People have literally complained about not putting pvp in pve stuff and vice versa and they go ahead and combine it. SMH
-
Also, they need to fix some of the objectives. The jolt one just doesn't work half the time. I get like 1/10 then it doesn't progress
-
It's ok for the first one for the week. I hate that when you reset and you have to play all CGV again. Unlike with bounties, when done I wouldn't go get more unless I wanted to play that particular activity. Plus, we had a choice of bounties we wanted ---I hate this control freak you must complete this to move forward 🙄
-
I think instead of going back, they just need to evolve on pathfinder.
-
Edited by Muffincup: 6/21/2024 7:51:49 PMI like the Pathfinder system, I just hate the execution of it. They need to just do away with specifics, and generalize the goals. It would be fine if it were all things like get x amount of kills. Complete x amount of matches. Get x element kills, or even get 2 kills in one life x amount of times. Get x amount of super kills. Basic stuff. A reasonable specific, for the very last tier seems fine. That opens it up to the masses.
-
Pale Heart is excellent. The other one, not so much.
-
Weirdly, the system itself 'can' work (or at least it does in the case of the Pale Heart Pathfinder). I completed that three times last week without even focussing on it or trying to complete specific objectives. The Ritual Pathfinder though? Absolute hot mess - rather than letting you start in a specific type (Vanguard/Crucible/Gambit) and then progressing to more generic objectives (which would work for everybody) they just threw the whole lot in a box and shook it up. Awful, awful, archaic game design decision, that
-
Pathfinder should award 3-pinnacle drops. 1 pinnacle drop per completion. They were only the +1 pinnacles back in the day but still better than what we get now.
-
Sorry, but pathfinders r fine. I don't like crucible or gambit at all but some of the ones I come up against r so easy
-
Pathfinder is far better than bounties.
-
Bounties suck, who cares
-
Yea pathfinder in the pale heart is better implemented.
