It's sad to see that the only explanations you receive for losing your characters in Destiny 2 are either that you accidentally deleted them yourself or that someone gained unauthorized access to your account and deleted them. Those who offer such explanations often lack empathy for the fact that losing 5,000 to 10,000 hours of gameplay progress can be devastating. Even if you've taken every possible security measure, your account can still be compromised, leading to the loss of all your progress. It's even more sad to know that Bungie won't help recover your deleted character, which is something that other game support teams do for their players.

It’s not sad at all. The player participated in possible malicious activities, so it’s entirely their fault. I’m not sure why you’re showing sympathy towards someone who cheated other players (including yourself). There is clear evidence of wrongdoing just by looking at their profile. Players who participate in account recoveries: - Have their character(s) deleted in a poor attempt to hide the malicious games - Always claim they were away for a few days - Have recently played Trials of Osiris - Only ever claim to be ‘hacked’ whenever Trials of Osiris is available - Often have a random account added that they have no access to. The OP matches all of this.

Bungie will not restore deleted characters because they can only be deleted by the player after performing numerous tasks which require confirmation. It’s the account owner’s responsibility to make sure their accounts are secure at all times.

  • So i considered avoiding any more discussions under here to avoid any more bs, i didn't feel like wasting anybody's time considering that i've been told extensively that there's no solution to my issue and that's it, but this comment baffles me. 1 - "Always claim they were away for a few days": I haven't touched the game since Feb 2024, to my memory and to raid report/dungeon report this is true, since i've had some runs of the last dungeon with a couple of friends, period in which i tried and managed to get the solo flawless of the dungeon. Once my objective was done i decided to stop playing since: 1 There's no personal reason to play the game until other (MAJOR) updates. 2 I have a social and University life, which means that i can decide WHENEVER I WANT to stop playing the game. 2 - "Have recently played Trials of Osiris" My last Trials game as Yumy said, dates back to December 2023, so if i were to cheat and to be worried about my activities, would i have waited SEVERAL MONTHS to then delete the characters? PLUS wouldn't i have moved my items to the vault before deleting them? 3 - "Only ever claim to be ‘hacked’ whenever Trials of Osiris is available" I've never claimed to be hacked, quite the contrary, a friend of mine checked that my last playstation 4 activity (this will comeback later on) dates back to last summer, when i played NIER AUTOMATA. On a sidenote, consider that i can't even play trials on my Ps4 since i haven't had P+ for 5/6 years MINIMUM. I'm not a game dev so i cannot elaborate anything, whether it's a bug or not, but i've checked both Steam logins and Ps4 logins, the hardware that my profiles are connected to and no suspicious activities were found. 4 - "Often have a random account added that they have no access to." Since when did i say that i don't have access to my ONLY other account connected to the steam one, the PSN/Playstation 4 one? I simply cannot access it AT THE MOMENT since my playstation 4 is at home, and being a uni student, i'm nowhere near home if you get what i mean, i don't think i need to explain the distance between Treviso (near Venice) and Milan. Seeing this message and answering it in general made me somewhat sick to my stomach, i've played destiny since my midschool days in which i used to comeback to my Play 4 eager to see what xur sold and all of that stuff. Imagine the fact that i've played destiny for years, without even playing online (i couldn't afford P+) activities. I've spent more than 2700 hours on destiny 2 alone, enjoyed every raid that i had the chance to play and played the game to its fullest, whilst enjoying every bit of it. Funny enough, the positives that i've gotten from this game and this company are the friends that i've got to know, and i'm glad to see that one of them came here to speak on my behalf and defend me. Anyway what do i get from this? Somebody accusing me on the bases of nothing, that cannot even check trials report, Braytech and Dungeon/Raid report to check the dates of my last activities. On a second or third or whatever sidenote, the anticheat of the game is quite "particular" and the only way you could accuse me of cheating is when i used CITRIX and MEMOQ to practice for my translation exams, period in which my game randomly crashed or wouldn't even open, until i finally realized that Destiny 2's anticheat considers a translation/virtual machine programs as a "cheat". Funny thing is i'm more than willing to prove that i've never cheated, but as i've read in this forum before "Don't worry about it, it's not even useful for yourself on a personal note", which is true, since i won't ever open the game again.

  • It's really funny reading this. I'm really curious about why a user with over 5000 hours (probably more than the moderator of this forum) would need to have a recovery on his account where he practically has everything, completing many day one and other end game activities. Honestly, I know this guy and I know he would never do it. It makes me laugh to see the moderators talking about things without evidence and totally nonsensical simply because they actually can't solve the situation. Just admit that you're not capable, that's it. I feel sorry for my friend who lost in-game progress without even logging in for the past few months for personal reasons. And it's funny to think that someone with a 0.90 KD is accused of cheating haha.

I personally know this guy and I can vouch that cheating is the last thing he would ever do. He had taken a break from the game for 3/4 months and recently returned to play do to itl. I am genuinely curious as to why you are so certain that he "participated in possible malicious activities" because as far as I know, it's not possible to hack the game by playing it. However, if you have solid evidence that he cheated, he should be banned. edit after yours - "he played recently" 12/1/2023, ok dude - "he deleted character" there's no log activities when the pg got deleted cause HE WASNT AT HOME - "the op matches" he played 2 match for a total of 1.22kd in season 23, idk whats your kd bud but 1.2 its not a OP kd - and he never claims that someone got in he's account so that evidence you got are just random thing you don't even know
I personally know this guy and I can vouch that cheating is the last thing he would ever do.
Unless you’re sitting behind him and watching him every moment of his life, that’s impossible to know.
He had taken a break from the game for 3/4 months and recently returned to play do to itl.
It’s funny, because just about everyone makes that claim after being “hacked”. The claim also only ever happens directly after a weekend of Trials of Osiris, which is a common playlist to find malicious players.
I am genuinely curious as to why you are so certain that he "participated in possible malicious activities"
Because there is evidence of wrongdoing just by looking at his profile. Recently played Trials of Osiris, characters deleted, random account added, claims he was away, claims he was hacked directly or during a weekend of Trials of Osiris, etc. All of that is usual signs of malicious activity.
because as far as I know, it's not possible to hack the game by playing it.
You don’t have to hack a video game for your activity to be considered cheating. Review Bungie’s ban policy at http://bungie.net/ban
However, if you have solid evidence that he cheated, he should be banned.
Bans are not immediately applied. Bungie security has to fully investigate a report before taking action. This can take several weeks or months. If your friend had violated Bungie’s policies, they will see a ‘Not so Fast’ message at the log in screen.
Note: Everything I have said above is based on speculation. Only Bungie can decide what is and isn’t against their policies. For more information, see http://help.Bungie.net
As for the deleted characters, those are gone forever. Bungie will not restore them no matter what. This has been their policy since 2014 and has not changed. Account security is always the owners responsibility at all times. They are also responsible for the account’s activities.
I’m done discussing this matter and reading replies. Feel free to defend your friend all you want, nothing wrong with that, but don’t say you weren’t told when things hit the fan. Further information can be found at http://help.bungie.net/ban http://help.bungie.net

Extra note: I am not a moderator and nor do I work for Bungie. Once more, everything I have said here is speculation based on public information.
• - he litterally plays only while streaming so, in a way I do watch him every time (and no hiding menus or other things won't matter, I know when someone cheats) - he quit the game during the week and not during the trials but ok - he played trials on 12/01/2023 and the characters got deleted a few days ago so if he wants do hide something he should do it near the date he plays, then sad I really wanna know if you really think that 1.22kd it's a OP KD cause it's not... - and, ill say it again, he doesn't claims that he got hacked so idk where you getting that from - even if he wan cheating during his last and only 2 game of trials, DELETING PG DOES'T DO NOTHING your stats stay there

  • Man, you're really good as a moderator, I gotta admit. First, you come down hard because you've got the power, but then as soon as someone points out that what you're saying might not be true, you play the speculation card. Honestly, the situation has turned into a circus. The guy in question never cheated and he never will because he hasn't even logged in, and you (Bungie) can see that. How can he cheat if he hasn't logged in for over 3 months? And even if he did cheat, wouldn't Bungie just delete the characters, not ban the account? Otherwise, it's easy for me to start cheating too, since they'll just delete my characters and in 2 months I'm back again.
