This is not enough incentive to fix the main issue. The main issue is that the highly sought after reward solely for participating in the activity during this short limited-time is random shiny variants of the Brave weapons and we are not receiving shiny variants. That was the entire purpose of playing the activity at the moment and not just waiting to play it later this year during The Final Shape.
The drop rate is incredibly low, perhaps even lower than 10% and as stated by Bungie devs during the Into the Light livestream, shiny variants were to be plentiful. Playing 400-500+ waves of Onslaught over the course of one or two days and not receiving any shiny variants is not plentiful. The livestream was all hype-based and very much deceiving.
If the final reward after completing 50-waves of Onslaught on normal difficulty was raised to 100 chests, it still wouldn't matter because we would most likely only receive one shiny variant or maybe even none at all. The issue isn't the amount of Brave weapons we're receiving, we're receiving many of those just from playing the activity - The issue is the reoccurring feeling of disappointment when you reach wave 50 and nothing is guaranteed and the rewards are completely lackluster, so it feels like you spent all that time for absolutely nothing. The activity is fun but the rewards where it stands, even after this update is cheap and bland.
The hype right now isn't for Onslaught, the hype isn't for sunset/brave weapons, the hype at the moment is being able to obtain the perfect god roll shiny variants of our most wanted Brave weapons. After this reward update is made, I assure you that most players will continue playing 10-waves of legend and resetting the activity.

Tried to play yesterday and yes people are leaving after 10. I’d rather stay because I’m farming tokens and you usually get 3 after later rounds and one or two ever 5 waves. Nobody is staying. Need to improve incentive

Great post 👍

Edited by Uncle Fester: 4/18/2024 9:14:32 PMLies from Bungie, just like the live stream, shiny new weapons will actually drop from Onslaught. Maybe for the streamers and a few lucky players, but most of us are NOT seeing them drop from Onslaught! Just more lies from Bungie
The livestream was all hype-based and very much deceiving.
Did you really NOT see this coming your way? Everything for the past 4 years has been hype this, hype that, sunsetting is the BEST THING EVER to happen to D2... If you are still falling for the hype, who is to blame? Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me!

Just be glad it isn't like an Mmo where you only get one chance a day or week at a .05% drop rate. Besides just because you have terrible luck doesn't mean the rest of the community does. I haven't even played Legend yet and have only done like 5 full 50 wave runs and have gotten about 6 of the shiny ones.

It’s called grinding not a hand out 🤷
-
Sure if it wasn't limited time. Some of us have jobs.
-
I do too. I only have one character because I don’t have time to grind out all three characters 🤷 Don’t blame bungie because you don’t have time to grind something out. They should have every character be able to level up through shaxx but the drops of coins are everywhere. You can unlock the armor in a weekend if you really wanted to. 🤷

Eh it’s more fun this way. Finally there is an actual grind in this game again. I did undying mind everyday for 400 days in d1 and finally got my godroll imago loop. It feels way better to grind for a gun for ages and get it as it means that much more and guarantees you’ll use it. Crafted weapons are just get 5 red things and then just shove it in your vault if it’s not the best gun atm.
-
Undying mind didn’t take an hour…
-
Neither does this. You get 12 drops on average in that hour which you can average down to a drop every 5 minutes.

Edited by Obi-Juan: 4/18/2024 7:34:42 PMNo one is saying grind is bad. We're saying grind AND fomo is bad. The combination of the 2 is the bad part. Imagine you only had 30 days to get the undying mind weapon you wanted. THAT is the issue here.
-
Not really? Like you can get a godroll easily. The shiny versions are supposed to be rare and not everyone is supposed to get godroll shinies of every gun without putting that time in.
-
Edited by Obi-Juan: 4/25/2024 10:13:35 PMI would agree if they were only cosmetic. Double perks is not just cosmetic. Once again, grind is fine, if it's not time limited. If it's time limited, it should be cosmetic only imo.

Just be glad you ain't playing pokemon...

Edited by WinterSolstice: 4/20/2024 11:58:55 AMAnd in response to the community they made shinies more common, added ways to farm them (with the right set up most modern pokemon games you can get 10 shinies an hour), and added a few guaranteed shinies. I'm getting like 0-1 limited weapon a day and like 50-100 shiny pokemon a day.

Chucking a Pokemon with ditto in a daycare isn't that hard compared to 50 waves of onslaught

Honestly, maybe the shiny variants should just be on all of the weapons and after TFS are regular
