Padding the light - A mistake

I don't think I'm going to be sharing any sentiment that isn't already rampant in the community. But if by chance a random Bungie employee discusses any posts on these forums with their colleagues, I'd like to appeal to why padding out the weapon release of "into the light" is a mistake. Drip-fed content hurts initial player response! This is a big problem for a small content updates like "Into the Light" because it's actual content size isn't as big as a season's or expansion. You don't have enough new gameplay coming to justify holding people over for the 6 or so weeks you're releasing a new weapon. If there were gameplay content updates alongside the release of these weapons, then you could get away with it because there would at least be something new other than the loot itself. What happens after week 1? If past season engagement is a valuable metric to go by, you'll have an influx of players picking up the free update for the first couple of days, and some of these players might be having a blast with the new activity. But then what? When onslaught gets old for the people who started grinding the second they could (because that is who your target market is, remember Bungie?) because even those of use excited for a new activity can admit; onslaught WILL get old. Who will be left to grind out the rest of the weapons? This whole "Play the activity once a week for a couple hours until I get the roll I want then log off until next week" is the EXACT ISSUE YOU SAID YOU WANTED TO SOLVE. Poor foresight considering your player sentiment. Face it, you needed this update to be received well because Sony is getting annoyed that you've fallen short on the majority of sales projections you've set when they purchased you. TFS pre-orders are in the gutter, so you wanted to build some hype before the release to secure some more. But hype only comes from overshooting a player's expectations, not underwhelming them. But I want to like this update. I don't want to be mad or annoyed at a free content update, I think this is a huge win over the alternative "30th anniversary bundle" pricing. I am still looking forward to the new onslaught activity and getting some classics back in the loadout. But it's hard to believe that you're really trying to build good player sentiment when you keep trying to artificially bump player counts in the most unnecessary ways possible.
