I always felt like I was just a bullet wall, that no matter how hard i tried, how much i strategized, it was so skewed it didn't matter. I was just gonna lose. So i stopped playing Crucible and Iron Banner all together, dreading when I would have to for some exotic quest. With the SBMM? I actively ask my fireteam if we can do Control or Elimination now. It's so much fun!!! And I find that i AM getting better as my skills fluctuate and put me up against better opponents, but it's a slower climb up that bell curve and its so nice? Like I'm statergizing much better and I actually want to try now! So thank you Bungie for making things easier for those of us that dreaded/hated PVP because of how painful it was to play with others that just wanted to steamroll and teabag me. I'd love if you'd implement this in Iron Banner, tbh, as I am noticing it's not skill matched and once again Im just a scarecrow full of bullet holes sigh. I'll stick with Shaxx for now.

Not as many mercies now, my games are more even. Its not that i dont come up against better players. But CBMM you’ll have one easy game, and the next get decimated. With SBMM the games are more competitive Its not perfect as less skilled players tend to group together so its a different kind of ‘sweat’ but its not worse than coming up against better players over and over and having no chance. I still think if they keep some gamemodes CBMM for those who want it and combine PS5/XB player bases it would keep everyone happy

I feel like its maybe better, iron banner matches have felt quite balanced comparwd to the constant "im calling it" past occasions, with scores ending on average 141 - 150 just a bit worse connection like punching and doing no dmg or fusion rifle to the chest and not even a assist, enemies dying 2 seconds later to suddenly killing players in 0.5 seconds, matches feel a bit random now when it comes to doing damage due to connectivity

1 ReplySomewhat it did, can't deny it, but the sandbox is kind of corny at the moment. Everyone and their gramps sitting back with Polaris, DMT, Jade. Primary gun fights are fine if you can see who you're fighting back. There is still a lot that needs improving, like 90% of the crucible sandbox.

Honestly? Yes. Most matches I've had so far have been a close match that feels earned. Not a stomp by sweats.

4 RepliesI am having a good deal of fun. Personally I see no long wait times and only had one genuinely laggy match. Although that all may come to an end as I just went to login and my PS4 needed a network update, I did it and now the entire Destiny game is re-downloading when I tried to login. 100Gig of it. WTF! The icon was there but the whole game seems to have vanished from my console.

17 RepliesThe Logic is there. They’re having a better time than top 5% players. There are more of them so wait times less and probably easier to find more games in region because the population is more people so connection quality probably better as well.

In Control (with no Freelance), it's far worse. About 80% of my matches are 4 to 6 stack (or say 2 groups of 3 etc.) verus 6 randoms. Very hard to say there is "Skill" matchmaking when it's a 6 stack. And the matchmaking lag is far worse. I'm in lobbies with the United Nations Lag team, players from every corner of the earth is where they draw my "Skill Pool" from.

to stay on topic and ignore the drama of SBMM; yes as a very bad pvper, i can once again enjoy it, ya sure some players are so laggy they can kill me some times after there dead, but small price to pay for enjoying pvp for once instead of getting rolled over by good players. and to be fair the vote tells it all, i get its a "drama fueled" topic, but i ingore it and move on and just enjoy the game instead of listening to the BS.

7 RepliesMy dad for sure is in that bracket. He's been loving it himself. It gives him a better chance of not playing into bad habits and getting baited into plays he just doesn't understand. He has been growing from the changes which makes the both of us happy

My take on PvP.... - PvP should NEVER be a chill experience, it should be competitive regardless of your skill level. - You should match against players within a reasonable range above and below your skill level. - Lobbies should be balanced as best they can. - Connections should not be sacrificed if at all possible. - Skill should be sacrificed more than connections in efforts to minimize queue times. - If you want to experiment with loadouts then go into a private match or any PvE activity. - If you rose to the top using meta loadouts then you have no leg to stand on to complain about not being able to use non-meta loadouts.

4 RepliesSkill based is not the problem. Sweats want to stack every season every game for the past 4-5 years. They wanted a 4.0 kd. Even if it’s not their true skill level. Let them rot in the sweat. Everyone else is having a great time. Next time stay in your lane kids. Time to make new accounts or stop playing altogether cause your easy game isn’t easy anymore.

If the lag stopped sbmm would be fine, but im sick of ghosting melees, people straight up tping around the map and dying to people ive already killed, i shot gunned a guy, had enough time to turn around and switch weapon until his melee registered, really unfun tbh

It's consistently way more people hiding in corners with HC/SG loadouts than before. Needless to say, still trash.

So far it’s improved things for most players that are lower and mid tier but you have to see where it is at the end of this season to have enough data to show weather it’s an improvement.
