A Behemoth main's take on Hoarfrost-Z, after using it for a long time in several activities

[armory]Hoarfrost-Z is an exotic titan chest plate that converts your barricade into a wall of stasis. The wall is made out of four big stasis crystals and one little stasis crystal arranged like so: II.II It also releases a relatively big slow wave when you cast the barricade. If you stand behind it, it gives you rally barricade benefits. In PVP, it's useless, but I don't care. There's no way to make it good there. The normal barricade simply works better. In PVE is where it has potential. It is better in every way than a normal barricade here. The enemies have a hard time breaking the stasis, throwing grenades over it, or sometimes even running around it. If you build it right, you can turn your barricade into a tool that can be shattered to kill nearby enemies, ducked behind for cover AND damage reduction, or shattered to regenerate your grenade, melee, and over shield as well as a 45% damage buff on demand (elemental shards, elemental charge, font of might, high-energy fire). So, buff it or nerf it? Well, I feel like it just needs a little more to it. Here's some stuff I came up with. 1. It grants you and teammates stasis font of might (25% stasis weapon damage bonus) when you stand behind it. This would be cool because it would make a little bit interesting in pvp, but also really good in PVE. It's not like this can't already be done. I just have to shatter a crystal to do this nowadays, but this would make it easier and more raid-viable, because I wouldn't have to force everyone to put on ele shards + FoM. 2. (this would make it super fun) It changes your barricade into a new animation where you stay in first person and very quickly pull a stasis chunk out of your chest and immediately throw it at the ground. I'm talking like 0.4 seconds to go from walking around to safe behind your barricade. This would be good in pvp but not overpowered. This is because your barricade can still easily be broken or jumped over, and you would not immediately be safe upon casting it. 3. It functions differently based on aspects. For tectonic harvest, it would make the shards regenerate your barricade energy. For howl of the storm, the barricade would spawn 2 more stasis crystals on the sides For diamond lance, it would spawn either one diamond lance in the center or two diamond lances inside the side crystals. For shatterslide, it would either give you a stasis weapon buff while behind the barricade, or make you do more damage to stasis crystals while behind it. These aspects would stack. I could have a barricade that gives me a shatter/frozen target damage buff and a diamond lance. Imagine the synergy. Throw lance at champion then shoot said champion with palmyra-b to do some awesome damage. Which do you think sounds best? Hell, bungie could even apply all of these at once if they wanted. My personal favorite is the aspect synergy one. Thanks for reading!

  • I do think it needs a buff BUT I wouldn’t say it’s useless in PvP since it’s another source for Stasis Shards which, depending on your build, can be very good.
